I left at dawn. The motorcycles roar echoed around the empty city.  I pulled over at my usual coffee shop. "Hey Cas, you're looking better," a young man smiled at me as I entered.

"Did I not before?" I asked.

"No, I think Angel is pushing you far too hard," he said.

"Nah I just like to work nights," I said.

"That's not healthy," he replied and placed my coffee into my hand.

"It pays my bills," I said and walked out of the coffee shop. I stood on the side walk, my coffee clutched in my hand, I sipped it slowly watching L.A. wake up.  The city looked so innocent, new comers were very naïve to the goings on that this city holds.  I threw my cup away into a nearby bin and climbed onto my motorcycle. I tore down the roads on my usual route, but everything looked ordinary and boring. I sighed and revved the engine but just as I turned down an alley way there sat a black van. I skidded to a stop and observed, vampires hid in the shadows unloading a big case.

"Oh Angel you're going to want to hear about this," I turned my bike around and sped back to the office before Angel could have his first cup of coffee. I ran up the stairs panting as I reached the top of the stairs  and fell through the door, I threw myself down on to the nearest chair.

"You really are unfit for a human aren't you?" Doyle asked.

"Yes," I giggled.

"I'm guessing you have some urgent news," he said handing me a bottle of water.

"I do, is Angel up yet?" I asked.

"Yes," Angel said pouring himself his first coffee. "You have news for me?"

"Yes, I have found your ring. It's being taken to a underground auction house, but I had to keep my distance," I said.

"That's a lead at least," he said walking over and kissed my head.

"Er... Angel when did this happen?"  Doyle asked looking between us.

"A few n...." I covered Angels mouth before he could say anymore.

"Doesn't matter," I said and pushed him away. "I am going to check the times of this auction."

"Wait we're actually going?" Doyle asked.

"Yes," I said.  "Angel needs this ring more than any vampire."

"Cas stop," Angel said.

"G...G...Guys," Doyle stuttered, I raced up and held him in my arms as a vision struck him, he cried out in pain, Angel and I exchanged glances.  "A young woman she....she's being attacked by a demon...I....It's trying to impregnate her."

"Where?" Angel asked.

"Near the underground sewer, " he replied as he came to.

"Lets go," I said and dropped him on the floor.

"I'll meet you guys there," Angel yelled as we both bolted down the stairs.  By the time we reached the entrance to the sewer we found the girl but the demon was gone.

"Is she alive?" I asked prodding her in the shoulder.

"I believe she is," Doyle said.  "She's coming around."

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Cordelia," she answered.
