Jax and I successfully infiltrated into the mansion and were hiding at a dark corner, just outside a room at the end of the vast hallway. Honestly, I wasn't sure the last time I ever felt so nervous during a mission. Adrenaline flooded my system and pumped right into my blood blood at full pelt. My heart was pounding so violently against my chest that was almost impossible to be quelled. The voice in my earpiece whispered a firm voice, "Let's go."

I pulled out my pistol from the concealed hoslter and attached the suppressor against the muzzle. Going out of our hiding, I ran across to the other side of the hallway and travelled in tangent with Jax. At the sight of the first cac, I quickly sprinted past him, jumped on his back and closed my gloved hand on his mouth to prevent him from making a sound. Pointing my pistol straight to his temple, I fired a shot and his entire body went limp in an instant.

My eyes went towards Jax on the other side and arched an eyebrow, relieved and feeling all proud that those training in the past month with him had at least paid off in a way that I could now hunt a cac with ease.

"How's that, mentor?" I whispered to his earpiece and winked playfully.

"That's just one out of the many that you'll face later," he said in a low voice.

"Praise me a little, won't you?" I sulked.

"Lovely job done there, sweetness," he smiled.

A wide smile broke on my face and it helped to ease some of the nerves that I had been feeling when we first stepped into the compound. We continued to move stealthily down the hallway and eliminated a few random cacs that appeared along the way. Right at the end of this path, we neared the steps down towards the common hallway. Just a small peek, I could already see at least ten of them crowding around the area.

"You ready for this?" Jax sounded through the earpiece.

"Yes," I inhaled deeply.

"On my count, then. Three." Jax began to count. I removed the suppressor from my pistol and placed it back into the concealed holster.

"Two," he breathed. Swinging my rifle forward, my fingers wrapped firmly onto the grips and I gave myself a moment of silent mental preparation.

"One." Both of us emerged from our shadows and began shooting towards the group of cacs gathering on the lower ground. There were even more than what I had initially expected and using the upper ground as leverage, we fired as we moved in split directions along the ornate wood railings but met at the stairs leading downstairs. Alarmed, the cacs immediately jumped out of their stance and attempted to charge at us. They hurriedly erased their human demeanour and revealed their true form.
