(3rd) POV:
I was dreaming. Kairi giggled. Sora was mad for some reason. Harmony was showing that famous smile of hers. And me...I was falling over laughing between all of them, while Riku joined in on the laughter. We could hear the sound of the waves. It was that place we knew so well--Destiny Island. The place I left behind. Our island, our home. Sora called mine and Riku's names. "Madison! Riku!" Kairi did, too. "Riku! Madison!" Even Harmony. "Madison! Riku!" Someone called to me-- "Madison!"
(Madison's) POV:
I don't know where I am. I don't even know how I got here. All I remember is me and Riku helping Harmony and the others close Kingdom Hearts. We even promised Harmony that we'd wait for her to come look for us, so that we can all go home together.
But...Do I really have the right...to go back...?
Slowly, I open my eyes and find myself in an unusual place. I can't tell where I am. Everything is just grey. I'm not even sure what this place is.
"Where am I..." a familiar voice says next to me.
I gasp and notice Riku is right next to me.
"Riku!?" I ask.
Riku's own eyes widen when he notices me. "Madison!?"
"Stay asleep," an unknown voice says.
"Who's there!?" Riku questions, him and I trying to find the source of that voice.
"You both should remain asleep. Here, between light and dark," the voice says.
"Between....what?" I ask, confused by what he just said.
"The king! Where's the king and Harmony's father!?" Riku questions, making me realize that they're not here. Since we all worked together on closing Kingdom Hearts, shouldn't they also be here? "Together we closed the door to darkness. After that--"
"You both came drifting here by yourselves," the voice says. "Neither of you had the strength to overcome the darkness. Or...maybe you were close to it."
"What's that supposed to mean? We're not demons!" I exclaim.
"Turn from the light. Shut your eyes," the voice says. "Here, blanketed by the darkness, sleep is safety. Sleep is eternal. But..."
All of a sudden there's this bright flash of light that nearly blinded us. Then the light fades away, revealing a card with an image I am all too familiar with--Hollow Bastion.
"What's this?" Riku asks.
"A card?" I ask.
"It is a door to the truth. Take it and your sleep ends, as you take the first step toward the truth," the voice says. "But know this: the truth will bring you pain. Will you still go? There is no return to the security of sleep."
After thinking for a moment, Riku grabs the card. "This seemed like a boring place to take a nap anyway."
I nod my head in agreement. "Besides, someone promised that she'd be looking for us so that we can all go home together. Might as well make it easier for her to find us."
"That was very well said, Riku, Madison," the voice says.
The card then gives off another bright light, blinding us again. When the light disappears we end up in a completely different place. The walls, the ceiling, the floor--Everything is white.
