"Kells, I need to sleep." I murmured, barely able to keep my eyes open and watch the movie everyone was gathered around for.

"You want me to carry you to bed?" He asked, kissing my head. I nodded and hung onto him as he lifted me off of the couch.

It had been over a week since Kells had told me about my dad's murder. I hadn't been contacted by the school or the police, and I had been hidden in Kell's home safely. Deep down, I was thankful that he was never able to touch me again. I was orphaned, but I still had my boyfriend and my friends. The healing process from my injuries was painful, but the bruises were finally beginning to fade and my ribs were mostly fine.

Kells set me down in our bed and I sighed deeply, curling up under the soft blanket that he pulled over.

"I gotta go to work baby. I'll be back later." He whispered, his lips brushing mine before he left me to sleep. Drowsiness dragged me under and I slept deeply.

When I woke up I rolled over and reached out, my hands only finding the cold bed sheets next to me. Kells wasn't in bed with me, and I turned to see the clock at 1:27 am.

"Kells?" I called softly. I sat in silence and I stood up off of the bed. My sides ached and I was exhausted. I held the edge of the bed until I gained enough balance to walk. I grabbed one of Kell's oversized black hoodies and pulled it over my head, letting it drop to my knees.

I searched for him quietly but found the whole house to be asleep until I got downstairs. I walked out of the French doors off of the kitchen when I saw the patio light on. I winced as my bare feet touched the cold cement and my face was bit by the freezing air.

"Baby, why are you awake?" Kells' voice came from the loungers on the corner of the deck. The tiny glowing of the end of a cigarette caught my eye in the dimness, and I noticed my boyfriend seated with his boss.

"I woke up and you weren't there." I whispered, keeping my eyes on Diablo, his boss I had met in St Louis.

"I'm sorry, beautiful. Work's been a mess. Go back to bed." His blue eyes rested on me, concern drawing his features.

"No."

"You're gonna let your girl-?" Diablo started with Kells.

"Leave her be, D." Kells snapped in my defense. He pushed his chair back from the small table and opened his arms. I quickly crossed the patio and sat on his lap, letting him wrap his arms around me.

"Can I have one? I'm cold." I asked, touching the box of princes on the table. He nodded, and I put the orange tip in my mouth and fumbled with the lighter. The flame kept snapping but wouldn't stay lit long enough for me to light the cigarette.

Diablo and Kells were discussing business, and without breaking conversation, Colson took the cigarette from my mouth then grabbed the lighter in his hand and lit it for me. He handed it back and kissed the side of my head.

"Skye is working under Wes. They sell twice as much as any of my others." Kells said. I tensed up and he rubbed my leg under the table, urging me to relax in front of diablo.

"Good. Move them up if they continue. Your girl looks tired, and so do you. I'll see you next week?" He nodded, standing. Kells said goodnight and nudged me off of his lap. He escorted Diablo out and I waited in the kitchen.

"Baby, I'm sorry. I thought you'd sleep through his uninvited arrival." Kells apologized immediately once he returned.

"It's okay." I held out my arms to him and he walked over to where I sat on the counter. He laid his head on my chest and I threaded my fingers through his messy blonde hair. He mumbled another apology, and I kissed his head.
