"New year, new me", is a phrase used worldwide to motivate oneself to forget about previous mistakes and to become a better person. It is usual for people to relate a new year with a blank page, a fresh start. But Gilbert Blythe wasn't one to believe that. He knew that he would always be the orphan boy that lost his whole family, and a change in the number of years wouldn't bring any of them back.
He was far from relating it to change, to improvement.
Clearly, he was not expecting the surprises that the next 365 days held. For now, he thought everything was going to be the same as the past four and a half years. Not even the fact that he was packing to go to London would change his mind.
January 1st had arrived far sooner than he expected, so he was still in disbelief when he tidily placed his t-shirts inside his suitcase. He decided to take some pictures on his trip because, if he was going to sleep with a stranger in a room that wasn't his' during six months, he wanted to, at least, have something to make him feel more at home. Then he finished by shoving some things into a backpack he'd take with him on the plane. It was stuffed with his passport, some important papers, his laptop, his headphones, his notebook, and most importantly, "The fault in our stars" by John Green. Half a smile appeared on his face as he placed it inside and zipped his bag.Blythe and Di
