Chim - How Did We Come To This?

I groan as I wake in the early hours in the morning, as I have done every night for the past 3 years since that day. I turn my head and look at the time seeing the clock read 03.32, I look at the photo frame next to the clock and my chest gets tight, my eyes sting as tears threaten to fall from them. The picture staring back at me is of me with my wife and our twins, Jacob and Roxy; they just had their first birthday. One week later I came home to find the house empty and all their stuff gone even my wife’s things, she had run out on me taking our babies with her without a reason, without a warning and even worse without a goodbye.

I climb out of bed knowing that I probably wont get back to sleep even as I walk down the stairs the house still reminds me of her even though I have removed everything about her the house still holds her essence. I pad my way into the kitchen and grab a glass of water and then my phone rings like it has done at this time for 2 years knowing who it is I answer it,

“Hey Nadine” I say

“Hey Kimba, how are you?” she asks

“I’m fine babes honesty you don’t have to ring every night like this” I laugh a fake laugh

“I know I don’t but it’s like my body knows your awake so I wake up and then ring” she laughs

“What you going to do today?” she asks and I sigh

“I have to go over my script one last time and then I have to go to the film set, you?” I reply

“Oh I’m going into the studio today laying down some vocals, I’m really excited about this song Kimba I love it!” She says and I laugh

“ Well I cant wait to hear it, Nicola is featuring on the song?” I say moving to the living room sitting on the sofa and curling my feet under me to get comfy

“Yeah she is, she wrote some of the lyrics its an amazing song, when we finish it I’ll kindly let you be the first to listen to it…. As well as Sarah” she says

“God I hope Sarah wont be late for the filming, yesterday she was 20 minutes late so we did a different scene and then she complained about having to wait an hour to shoot the actual scene we were meant to do if she wasn’t late!” I say

“Well Sarah will be Sarah, she won’t change” Nadine laughs.

I stay talking to Nadine for another hour before ending the talk and taking a long shower and getting ready for the long day ahead filming. Since she left without saying anything to anyone not even her mum I tried that route her mum didn’t know anything, she didn’t even know she had gone or where she’d gone too, we all had to branch out into different jobs we liked, since then me and Sarah have been doing films and some presenting jobs, Nicola and Nadine have big solo careers Nadine has also been in a couple of films but her love and passion is for singing.

I get in my car and start to drive into central London where we will be filming today as I drive I start to think back on the years we all shared together the laughs, the jokes and the tears sometimes I wish I never went to the auditions for the girl band but then again I met my 3 best friends for life and also her…… the only love of my life forever no matter how much she has hurt and broken me I will still love her deeply. As I come to a stop at a set of traffic lights I decide to phone Sarah after 3 rings she picks up,

“Hello? Kim? She answers sleepily

“Morning sunshine! We have to be on set in an hour are you ready?” I ask knowing that she isn’t
