"ARE YOU SURE about this?" Emily sighed, watching Kenzie slip into a sleeveless white mini dress. Emily had to look away, scared to stare any longer than she intended to. 

"Emi," Kenzie huffed, trying to detangle the dress from her sides and bring it down to where it was supposed to be. "I'm tired of being sad... and this will be good for us. The four of us I mean," 

"But what about Ashton?" Emily sighed. 

"What about him?"

"If he's planning something with you, I would beware. I just don't get why you would place yourself back into a situation with him," Emily exclaimed while fastening emerald earrings into both ears.

"You know I love you Em, but sometimes you can be way too overpro–" Kenzie was interrupted by the loud car beep in front of her house, indicating that Joshua and Mandla were ready to pick them up. They hurried out of Kenzie's room, grabbing their bags. 

"Why the sad face?" Emily asked Joshua who was spacing out in the passenger's seat. She knew the answer but maybe asking Joshua would soften the impact of the breakup. 

"I'm fine Emily." Joshua said harshly, causing Emily to bite her lip and silently get into the backseat next to Kenzie. 

"Don't try," Mandla turned around from the driver's seat. He is even worse than miserable. Something about the last party he went to was with Olivia. I don't even know." 

With that awkward negative start to their night, the four friends set off for Lexi's party.

"J-MAN! NO WAY!" Hayden embraced Johnny as he walked into Lexi's house with Lauren and Nadia. Johnny smiled back, fistbumping Hayden and nodding to his other friend's who were there. The party was huge– a large space for dancing, a glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and hundreds of people Johnny didn't even know. Music was blasting from all ends of the room which made Johnny dizzy.

"Hey Hayden. I'm sorry about these past few weeks. I guess I take losses worse than I thought," Johnny shrugged. The awkwardness soon faded and Hayden happily brought Johnny to the center of attention.
