When the sun finally started making its way to the western horizon, Yo moved around in his kitchen. He had specifically requested the biggest dorms. Those on the top floor with more square footage, a balcony, a tub, and a small kitchen with an actual oven. It was more expensive, but for Yo, it was really worthwhile. He didn't have to worry about human money.
Pulling the last batch of cookies out of the oven, he allowed them to cool while he cleaned up the mess and put some already cooled cookies onto some special plates made from leaves that he bought just for the purpose. He wrapped them up carefully with a small welcome card that he had prepared. This was his first time living in dorms and he was excited to meet his new neighbors and make friends.
"I made some cookies today, I thought you might enjoy them." He took the first plate of cookies to his neighbor on the right. After a short thank you from the recipient, Yo departed.
With the same introduction, he took the second plate of cookies to the neighbor on the left. That person thanked him as well and after a short conversation in the doorway, Yo left. So far so good.
"Hi, my name is Yo," he started at the door across the hall. "I've just made some cookies and I can't possibly eat them all. I thought you might enjoy some."
"Cookies?" the girl asked, her voice held disdain. "I don't eat sweets. I intend to keep my figure."
"With such a lovely figure, I should have realized," Yo said, smiling even though her attitude was rude, "but it's okay to allow yourself to enjoy something sweet every once in awhile. Or you can give them to a friend, if you don't want them."
"Fine," the girl said, sounding slightly mollified by his flattering words. "I'm the Campus Star, Pring. Next time, bring something less fattening."
"It's nice to meet you, Pring," Yo responded, ignoring her last sentence and turning to go. "If you ever need help, I'm just across the hall."
"Where are you taking those cookies?" Pring asked, looking at the plate that Yo still held in his hand.
"I was thinking of taking them another door down," Yo said. "You can have them if you'd like."
"I don't want them," Pring said. "Why don't you take them down to room 305. My boyfriend lives there. Just tell him I sent you."
Yo swallowed his faint feeling of annoyance at the way she commandeered his gift, but decided it wouldn't hurt to be kind to his new neighbor and her boyfriend. He walked down the two flights of stairs and found himself knocking on the door for room 305 with a plate of cookies.
The door was opened by a tall, handsome man that Yo remembered from his orientation this morning. It was the Campus Moon from last year, Phana. Yo's heart skipped a beat, but he controlled himself quickly. It would not be a good idea to fall for someone else's boyfriend.
"I hope I'm not bothering you," Yo said. "Your girlfriend thought you might like these cookies."
The man in question just stood in the doorway, staring at him. They continued looking at each other, but Phana wasn't moving to take the cookies.
"Don't you like cookies?" Yo asked, beginning to feel uncomfortable.
"Oh!" Phana said, seeming to come back to his senses. "I love cookies, but they can't be for me. I don't have a girlfriend."
"I'm sorry. I must have been mistaken," Yo said, wondering if he'd heard the room number wrong or Pring had been mistaken. "You can keep these. I'll go back to Pring to get the right room number."
"Pring?" Phana asked, sounding surprised. "She said I was her boyfriend?"
"Well, she said her boyfriend was in this room, but I could have made a mistake," Yo said, smiling. At least Phana wasn't making this embarrassing for him.
