"Loving can hurt, loving can hurt sometimes, but it's the only thing that I know," Yo smiled as he sang to the crowd.
"When it gets hard, you know it can get hard sometimes, it is the only thing makes us feel alive," Arthit joined in.
"We keep this love in a photograph. We made these memories for ourselves. Where our eyes are never closing, hearts are never broken, and time's forever frozen, still," they sang together. "So you can keep me inside the pocket of your ripped jeans. Holding me closer 'til our eyes meet. You won't ever be alone, wait for me to come home."
"Loving can heal, loving can mend your soul, and it's the only thing that I know," Arthit sang while everyone watched.
"I swear it will get easier. Remember that with every piece of ya," Yo sang, enchanting the crowd further. "Hmm, and it's the only thing we take with us when we die." (A/N: lyrics are to the song Photograph by Ed Sheeran.)
As the song ended, their human friends stood watching with surprise on their faces. Both of them had beautiful voices.
"Did you know they could sing like that?" Beam asked, looking at his tall friend who was watching Yo with loving eyes. Arthit picked up the guitar and Tharn stayed on the drums while Yo decided to sing the next song alone.
"When your legs don't work like they used to before, and I can't sweep you off of your feet," Yo began, watching Pha from the stage. "Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love? Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks? And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70. And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23. And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways, maybe just the touch of a hand. Oh me, I fall in love with you every single day, and I just wanna tell you I am. So honey now take me into your loving arms. Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars. Place your head on my beating heart. I'm thinking out loud. Maybe we found love right where we are." (A/N: lyrics are to the song Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.)
When Yo walked off the stage, to enthusiastic applause, he was immediately met by Pha who pulled him back to an empty table, holding his hand and smiling. Kong had pulled Arthit to another table and Tharn joined them until Type pulled him to the dance floor a moment later as the DJ returned to the stage.
************
Arthit watched, concerned, as his brother smiled at Pha with what could only be described as love. Arthit still wasn't sure if Pha could be trusted with an angel's heart. It was a risky proposition for any angel, it gave another soul so much power over yours and even a small slight could be painful. For Yo, it could very well mean the difference between a lifetime filled with joy or an eternity of pain and longing.
Arthit remembered very well how he'd come so close to losing his own heart. Not because Kongpob hadn't been willing to protect his heart, but because Arthit had been afraid to trust. Though he hadn't officially given his heart at first, he'd come to realize that it was too late for him to love anyone else. Luckily, Kong hadn't been easily dissuaded. He'd just waited patiently until Arthit had been able to say the words.
Now, as Arthit watched his sweet brother, he realized that even if the words weren't ever said, it might be too late for Yo to move on. Perhaps he was only tempting fate by forcing his brother to wait to tell Pha how he felt. After all, no matter how much Pha loved Yo, if he wasn't assured of Yo's love in return, his human heart might not be strong enough to hold on for long.
It was the reason that loving a human was so dangerous for an angel. A human who was secure in his relationship and faithful to his lover, might be willing to protect that love against impossible odds. But that same human, might not be willing to risk heartbreak if he wasn't sure his love would be returned. Arthit wasn't sure what kind of man Pha was, but even without the words, it seemed that Yo's heart knew what it wanted.
