Forth watched Knock and Korn from the other side of the room. He'd made a mistake promising to help Korn in exchange for another chance at immortality. Korn was asking for something nearly impossible. Forth was expected to help Yo find true love and keep the little angel safe until he could return to the heavens, having successfully completed his mission. He'd said yes because it didn't sound that hard. Yo was one adorable angel and Pha had already fallen hard, so really it was just a matter of them getting to know each other and boom! Forth would be an angel again.

That was before Forth found out the truth. First on the list of problems was Pha. The guy who always seemed so confident and brave, was actually kind of a coward. A whiny coward. He wasn't ready to make any declarations when asked by Yo's brother, admittedly a risky proposition for a brand new relationship, but Forth had at least expected a valiant effort. Instead, Pha had run away and now Arthit was sure that Pha was the wrong choice. Getting them together might go directly against the wishes of a more powerful angel than Forth had ever faced.

Second, of course, was the current demon situation. As if Pha's lack of courage wasn't enough, a demon princess was added to the mix. There was no way to know if she knew if Yo was an angel or if she was after Pha for another reason. Whatever it might be, she had made her preference for Pha clear and that put everyone in danger if Pha didn't want her. Which apparently he didn't. Either way, Forth didn't want to get on the bad side of a demon princess if his transition back to full angel status wasn't absolutely assured.

So Forth was stuck. He had to try to remain on good terms with the angel side while pretending not to have a relationship with angels in front of the demon side. You may be asking yourself why Forth became a Fallen Angel in the first place. Forth could explain that with just one word: love. Not the kind of love that you associate with angels, a love of all God's creatures and a devoted love of God. But the romantic type of love that humans shared. He'd met a human and wanted that human, so he'd Fallen in order to stay with her.

Though he'd done all the things that humans did to woo the woman he loved, their relationship hadn't gone well. And now he was here, in the human world, neither human nor angel. Luckily, he hadn't given the girl his heart or when she left he would've been broken inside. He'd kept his angel's heart safe and now he wanted to return to the heavens and forget.

In his moments of perfect honesty, which happened infrequently enough that he could keep his pride, he knew that what he'd really wanted to experience in the human world wasn't love, because even angels could fall in love. It was lust. An illusion that somehow managed to look like love but kept his heart carefully hidden away. Now that he'd experienced lust and sexual desire, he was anxious to return to the heavens and avoid the many other pitfalls of a mortal life.

A black cat sat on a small table, watching the proceedings with what appeared to be a smile on her feline face. It was kind of creeping Forth out, but he knew better than to say anything. Certain cats were guardians to the angels. If one was here now, it could only be because the Seraphim in question was one of heaven's favored.

"Well, what do you think?" Korn asked, pulling Forth from his thoughts.

"About what?" Forth asked.

"I knew you weren't listening," Knock said angrily. "Why are we working with a Fallen anyway? You know he can't be trusted, Korn. Yo would be safer with us."

"Do you want to announce to every demon in the human world that the most favored of all the Seraphim is visiting the human world for the first time?" Korn asked, exasperated. "We need help that isn't obviously angelic to watch him while we keep a close eye on the humans around him."

"What about Mau?" Knock answered, as Forth thought hard about what was just said. Yo was the most favored Seraphim? Not just one of the many that were popular, but the Seraphim who was known to have the most generous heart of all the Seraphim before or after him. It was no wonder that so many angels were suddenly active in the human world. If Yo's heart were to break, the whole of the heavens would mourn the loss.
