Jealousy

"Pha, you've barely said two words since the movie ended. What's wrong?" Kit asked. His friend was staring moodily at Yo who was laughing with Ming.

"Yo is laughing again," Pha said distractedly. Kit couldn't see the connection, so he slapped his tall friend on the back, trying to get him to focus.

"And that relates to your bad mood how?"

"Have we just been to the same movie?" Pha asked angrily. "Maybe you didn't see the part where the boy I like is literally flirting with everyone except me!"

Kit stared at Yo for a second, trying to figure out what his dumb friend was thinking of. "He wasn't flirting. Knock and Ming are both his friends."

"What? He can't flirt with friends?" Pha asked. "I'm his friend too!"

"I get it, but that's different."

"Ok, well, what about those girls?"

"You mean the group of girls that dropped their popcorn? Yo caught it and they thanked him. That's all!"

"Those girls were flirting with him! And he just ate it up. He smiled at them. Just like he smiled at Knock all through the movie. And now he's smiling at Ming! Aren't you afraid Yo's going to steal your man?"

"Don't be ridiculous, he was just smiling. He smiles at you too. And he's not trying to steal anyone," Kit said, exasperated. Then he looked over at Ming and asked in a whisper, "What makes you think Ming is my man anyway?"

Pha lowered his voice and held back his laugher. How could his grumpy friend be so oblivious? "You barely spend any time apart. He looks at you like you're the most beautiful thing he's ever seen. And you let him call you KitKat. Of course he's your man."

"I don't let him call me KitKat, he just won't stop," Kit whispered, more to himself than anyone else. Then he looked at Pha again and tried to give his poor friend a morale boost, "Don't worry. Yo smiles at a lot of people, but you're the only one he looks at with adoring eyes."

"Adoring eyes?" Pha responded, slightly dazed. He rolled the words around in his head, thinking of Yo's brown eyes and long lashes. He smiled and thought he could probably live with adoring eyes, as long as the only person Yo was watching with those eyes was him. Then he looked back over at Ming and Yo, who were now discussing upcoming movies they wanted to see and decided he needed those eyes focused on him right now.

"Yo!" Pha called to his little love interest. "Come over here for a minute."

Yo ran over, it was barely ten steps, and smiled up at Pha. The taller man didn't seem in a hurry to respond, so Yo asked, "What did you want to talk to me about?"

"Nothing, I just wanted to buy you some dinner from the concession stand. Then, if you like, I'll take you home," Pha made a quick excuse. Knock was standing off to the side on his phone, so Pha wanted to offer a ride before Knock had a chance.

"The concession stand is really expensive, let's just stop at a food stall on the way home," Yo responded, remembering that not every human had a never-ending supply of human money. He always tried to be considerate that way. Besides, foods at the concession stand weren't as healthy as other options. "Would you mind offering Knock a ride too? I'm not sure if he's coming home with me or going to meet Korn somewhere."

"Going home with you?" Pha squeaked out, his mind stopping at the first part of that sentence without worrying about the rest. He ground his teeth together in frustration, but nodded his head to let Yo know it was okay.

"Let me ask him," Yo walked over to Knock and patted his shoulder to get his attention. Knock got off the phone and smiled at his friend.

"Hey, baby Yo, you ready to go back to your apartment? I can call a taxi," Knock said, putting his arm around the smaller boy's shoulders.
