~ the curse comes at night ~
After returning from a different timeline, both Lucas and Athanasia's relationship have progressed steadily.
It wasn't easy to get Claude's blessing at first, but there was nothing that the princess couldn't get from her father after all. Their betrothal was soon announced throughout the entire world, and for a while until their marriage, it was a topic that topped every news. After all, a union between the Great Wizard of the Black Tower and Obelia's wizard crown princess is nothing short of marvelous.
This news came as both good and bad, depending on which nation was receiving them.
Obelia's emperor is already a force to be reckoned with, having vanquished the black magic and bringing order to the nation, he was deemed as a saint and a hero that brought power and glory back to Obelia. Powerful, wise and just— this is Claude de Alger Obelia, the sun and pillar of the nation.
Now that emperor has nurtured an heiress that rivals his own wizardry prowess, and not only that, she was betrothed to that wizard. The wizard so powerful and mighty some believe he was merely a fictional character from a fairy tale, the Great Wizard of the Black Tower of Obelia.
What a truly frightening combination for the rest of the neighboring countries...
Most of which are glad they are on a peaceful accord with Obelia, some even happier they are allied forces. Wherein a few other prideful, and also powerful nations are now feeling threatened just by the notion of it.
The continent where Obelia stands is the biggest one in the world. It holds 14 nations, including Obelia, two of which are its allies, Arlanta and Siodonna, and the rest are in a peace treaty with each other.
There are three more continents aside from where Obelia is. And in those three, two other powerful nations reside. One continent is home to the empire of Huale, another continent houses the holy kingdom of Sycansia, and the last and smallest continent is made up of many smaller nations. In total, the world has only 76 nations.
This is due to the stagnant balance in power through most of wise and rationale leaders of the world, choosing peace over expansion or revolt. Even when a war breaks out, it is soon over when a powerful nation announces its allegiance to one or the other of the opposing smaller kingdoms.
But the peace treaty between the powerful nations can be fragile and slander can easily rouse war. It has been due to sensible leadership that they've maintained status quo, just ever gauging each other's capabilities.
However, that soon changed after the wedding of Obelia's heiress and the Black Tower wizard. At this time, the entire world have known the great relationship between the emperor of Obelia and his only daughter. So much so that some say the demise of the princess will also be the fall of the great emperor. Thus, many plot to put this demise into action.
But such a simpleton way of thinking doesn't come with simple measures. All knew the might of the Black Tower wizard, as well as the princess' own abilities. To bring her down, an intricate plan must be put in place. And simple as the plan is, the ways to conjure such crippling curse costs not only an insane amount of mana, but lives of many wizards.
The curse that comes at night.

AN: Huale and Sycansia were both mentioned by Lucas in the manhwa, apart from Arlanta and Siodonna. The world geography is just something I made up lmao
