Ren sat down in a cab and could see the driver smiling ominously to himself as she sat down. She put on her seatbelt and the engine started. It was still quite dark and the car suddenly went off course and almost threw her against the side as it went down a barely used road that led to some unused part of the port. She frowned and reached into her jacket, preparing to take out her knife. He turned to her.
"Well, miss, I apologise for the inconvenience, but we must stop here." He leaned forward to put chloroform over her mouth, but she dodged and twisted his arm behind his head, holding a knife to his throat.
He began to panic and started thrashing around, trying to break free, but she tightened her grip and sighed. A shadow was cast across most of her face as he was frantically searching for an escape route, regretting his decision to attempt to detain her.
"Were you, some random guy looking to make some extra cash from kidnapping, thinking about using me, a Port Mafia Executive?" Her voice was soft but had a sharp, threatening edge, and her fingers curled more securely around the knife, fitting perfectly around the handle.
"P-Port Mafia Executive?! Please spare me!" He pleaded desperately, and Ren let him go for a moment, where he grabbed his gun and held it at her shakily as he pressed his back against the door, his face painted with a terrified expression.
She brought out her gun and he pulled the trigger slowly, pointing it at her. Her gun was perfectly still as she pointed it at him. There were two clicks and one gunshot as Ren let the bullet travel past her head, piercing the car behind her.
"You're so shaky you look like you have crippling arthritis." She was slightly hesitant to shoot, and her finger wavered slightly over the trigger as she pointed it at him.
For a moment her finger seemed paralysed, but she pulled the trigger and he slumped over, bleeding from his head as his eyes became blank and lifeless, the colour draining from his face.
"You're kinda late." Chuuya stood in front of the doors trying to be intimidating, but it was clearly doing the opposite.
"Some random dude tried to kidnap me so I dealt with him." They walked into the building together and Ren could see a person moving out of the corner of her eye.
Standing in front of Mori's office, he gave them some of his work and other paperwork to do with a guilty smile on his face, while they sighed and took his work while he entertained himself with Elise, who was dressing up in all sorts of different outfits.
"Why does he give us his work to do?" He groaned and Ren shrugged, taking out her phone.
Dazai
Why didn't you say anything to me this morning?Ren
I tried to wake you up but you didn't.Dazai
Oh ok. You're at work, right?Ren
Yes. Are you actually working...?Dazai
No...Ren
If you're using me as an excuse not to work, then bye.Dazai
I'M NOT I PROMISE!
I would only ever do that if I were completely out of ideas. Which I might be...Ren
While you're doing your usual thing, Mori's given me more work to do, so I'll see you later.Dazai
Ok. See you :D"You're staying at his place?" Chuuya looked at her phone, then at her with a weirded out expression.
