Ren left Dazai as she heard Ango's footsteps approaching, letting them talk while she listened. There were a few other men with them, and she made sure to stay hidden, tapping Dazai on the shoulder to signal that she was still there.
"Dazai-kun." She heard Ango's voice.
"Oh, Ango. You're here. Did you come for a drink?" Dazai had his back turned to him.
"No. I'm here for work."
"Work?" There was the sound of guns being loaded, but Dazai stayed still, unmoving.
"You were the one who brought Shibusawa Tatsuhiko to Yokohama, aren't you? Are you plotting to start a mass suicide here?" Dazai turned around to face Ango, the corner of his lips turning into a smile as a dark figure appeared behind Ango.
"Do you think you can catch me?" A misty fog started swirling around his legs, reminiscent of Nagai Tatsuo's Morning Mist, which started spreading around Yokohama.
"What have you done, Dazai?" Ren said to herself before disappearing again, fiddling around with something in her pocket. "Hopefully that plan of yours works. And I'm not gonna miss out."
The fog was everywhere, seeping through all the cracks and crevices so no one could escape. The streets were dark and empty, completely devoid of life, and the wind seemed to be whispering ominously. There wasn't anybody on the streets, and it was as if every single person had vanished from the city, except for the gifted. The city was an empty, concrete jungle, and abilities began manifesting into physical forms, attacking their users. Kunikida opened up something in the Armed Detective Agency, and a screen appeared, with a static person speaking, though it was difficult to make out.
"We almost have a connection, keep this level steady. President Fukuzawa, is that you?" Ango's voice said.
"It's Agent Kunikida. You're with the Special Operations Division, correct?"
"I'm Sakaguchi Ango of the Special Operations Division. Kunikida-san, what is the situation over there?" His face started becoming clearer, but still pixelated.
"I'm here with Nakajima Atsushi and Izumi Kyouka. All other Agency staff are currently missing." Kunikida said quickly.
"Understood. Our connection isn't stable. I'll keep it short. The fog phenomenon has happened here in Yokohama. No such vast fog exists on record." He zoomed into a map of Japan. "It has stopped spreading, but the entirety of Yokohama is engulfed. Yokohama is currently disconnected from the outside. Almost everyone in Yokohama is currently missing, or has vanished. It appears that only the gifted are present. Which means you're in danger as well."
"We can confirm. Here in this fog, the gifted have been separated from their special abilities. The abilities attempt to kill the gifted they belong to."
"Fortunately, we've determined the location of the gifted who is most likely responsible for the phenomenon. He's in an abandoned high-rise called Mukurotoride in the centre of Yokohama." He showed a photo of a tall building that seemed to stick out of the fog.
"Is it Shibusawa Tatsuhiko after all?" Kunikida asked, and Atsushi gasped.
"I am making an important request of the Agency. Please eliminate the mastermind, Shibusawa Tatsuhiko. By any means necessary. Also, note that Dazai-kun appears to be with the mastermind."
"Dazai is?"
"He's been captured?" Atsushi asked urgently.
Ango had a conflicted expression on his face, before saying, "We need to act, before Yokohama is annihilated. You're our only hope." He almost shouted before his connection became unstable, blurring him into nothing but static.
