"Hello everyone, this is your captain speaking, we will be arriving at our destination shortly. Please make sure you fasten your seatbelts and that you have turned off all devices. We will be announcing some of the beautiful landmarks we'll pass along the way so look forward to that. Thank you all for your cooperation," said a robotic-like voice.
I sighed as I buckled up and took out my earbuds from my backpack. 'This is going to be a long 3 hours' I thought while putting my music on shuffle play and looked out the window.
In a matter of what felt like a few minutes, we were about to land. Those 3 hours went by surprisingly fast, I don't know why. Maybe it was because when a sad song came up I lip-synced the lyrics and pretended to be in the music video. I always tend to wander off and well create scenarios irl or in fictional worlds depending on the music. If I'm listening to some badass music then I imagine myself doing something badass, if it's sad music then I imagine a sad scenario and so forth with that. Another reason could be that I doodled on the window of my seat with my finger. I purposefully fog it up when I finish and draw something else. I have no clue why I do that but I just do. It could also be because I took a long nap on the plane, I don't know and now I don't really care.
After we landed, I got out of the plane and headed out of the building. I stopped in front of the automatic doors waiting for them to fully opened. I took a small breath and walked out once they were done doing that. I felt a cold smooth breeze going past me. It honestly felt good and soothed me a little. All I needed to do now was to find this supposed Griffon Rock ferry.
*Time skip*
I finally found the docks after about 30 minutes of walking and searching (I definitely didn't ask for help.) I was right on schedule. The ferry was still on its way coming back from the previous trip so I had enough time to just enjoy the view. It's not every day, we'll for me, to just travel to another state.
I sat at a nearby bench and whipped out my phone. I knew Pearl was going to worry if I don't tell her that I'm still alive. I messaged her saying that I was safe and well, that I was already off the plane and waiting for the ferry. In a matter of seconds, she replied with "Thanks for letting me know sweetie, good luck with everything over there. I miss you already."
'Dang, for an old lady, she types fast o-o,' I thought to myself while I replied. "Thxs grandma, I miss u too," I said. After sending her that I heard some thunder. I looked up and noticed that it was starting to get very cloudy and dark.
'Shit, I didn't bring an umbrella. Stupid weather app telling me it would be light showers.' I was in the process of reaching into my backpack for my jacket until I heard some loud honks. I sighed in relief when I looked up and saw the ferry heading towards us.
I stood in line waiting for the ship to dock. I glanced around noticing said docks were pretty much empty besides 2 cars and a couple with 2 kids. "All aboard!! This is the last trip we're making due to the storm brewing up right now," said an old-looking man with a heavy accent. He was gesturing us to hurry up as we walked on, then the cars drive on.
He started glancing at all of us as if he was counting how many people were on inside his head. After he finished the ferry started to move. 'Bout time.' The man looked like he was in his late 40's or early 50's (I'm not good at guessing others ages) with a grey and white beard. 'Why does it look like he dyed his beard white but with a pattern?' I asked myself chucking a little. He had an orange life vest on and underneath he had a blue-ish teal button-down shirt. He gave us all some life vests just for in case.
I heard more thunder as it rumbled in the sky. After a like a minute passed, I felt a few drops of rain fall on me. Even though it felt good, I knew I couldn't get sick today. So I took out my jacket and put it on under the best, then I walked over to the part of the ferry where the passengers can go in. The door has the lock on the outside so I just got a small metal piece that was laying on the floor and stuck it in underneath the door just so it doesn't close but isn't wide open either. 'I am not about to be locked in some random ship all alone.' I sat down on a wooden chair that kind of just looks like a crate and just looked out the window.
Suddenly 2 little boys (who looked like they were maybe 4 and 6 years of age) burst through the door soaking wet and started laughing. Then out of nowhere, a huge wave hit the ferry making it rock a little to the side. The boys stumbled and fell on each other, I helped them up. Another wave hit us making me fall on them on an accident. "Sorry," I said as I was trying to get off of them.
I noticed that the door was closed so my paranoid ass walked up to it and tried opening it. It wouldn't budge, it was stuck, closed with all of us still in it. 'Fuck, now what?" I asked myself still trying to make the door open. I glanced back at the boys. The youngest one asked, "Have y-you tried saying the magic words, Open Sesame?" 'Ain't no hocus of a pocus magic gonna work here.'
"I'm sorry to shatter your hopes and dreams but that isn't how you open doors," I said sarcastically. Rows of waves we're hitting us making me stumble back and bang my head on the wall. I winced in pain. I told the 2 kids to hold on to something to keep them from falling. Then I heard shouts and screams from outside. I looked over and saw that both of the cars were in the water with their drivers on top shouting for help. The couple was holding on to the railing on the side of the ship as the bow was quickly being sucked underwater. I heard someone talk upstairs but I didn't really hear it well. I felt water in my shoes slowly making its way up to my ankles, I looked down and saw that the room was filling with water.
"You 2 get on the chairs and stay on them, hold on to anything," I shouted to the boys who looked like there were scared for their lives (which they should be). I knew I couldn't bang on the door and ask for help because the captain was trying to help the couple already in the water and there was no one else. I glanced around and found the metal piece that was holding the door earlier. I ran to grab it and started banging the windows with the sharp end trying to break the windows with it.
'Useless ... piece of ... CRAP!!' I mumbled to myself syncing with the bangs I was giving the windows. All of a sudden, I felt a sharp pain in my hand making me drop the metal piece. I looked at my hand and saw that I had accidentally cut myself. "Shit," I cried out. The water was already making its way up to my knees and I couldn't do anything with the damn hand that I cut. Sad enough, that was my dominant hand. If I moved it even slightly I would feel even more pain. I sat in the water, my back against the wall, still holding my bleeding hand trying to figure out how the hell we were going to get out of here.
'Was this trip a mistake,' I asked myself as I started to dizzy.
Whew, that was one hell of a chapter. It is currently 1: 06 in the morning and I feel sleepy af. Buttt this chapter is more important to me 🙃. I'm weird, ik, I also know that my sleeping schedule is a mess but oh well.
