The sleek car pulled up into the car park of the nearest McDonalds.
This was it.
Leaving families behind for an adventure. An adventure we both anticipated and were nervous for.
I followed Amy's silhouette through the revolving doors of heaven for our final meal in England.
We sat ourselves down in a corner away from the souls of two am feasters and dead weighted lorry drivers snoozing over the table. Placing our trays down by the window we sat opposite one another under the dim lighting.
"You ready for this?" Amy looked over her frames with acknowledgment as I nodded, mouth stuffed with a bite of my Big Mac.
It was Amy's free year before University and guess where she was moving to? York. York University, the furthest place you could choose. My parents had been kind enough, with a lot of encouragement, to allow me to spend this free year with Amy before she leaves.
This was our girl time away. Our time to be free.
"Have you got your ID's Bec?" Amy knocked me out of my street-lighted dream.
"Yes, in my travel bag" I replied before taking another bite.
"Are you sure?" She had a habit of double checking.
"Yep."
There was a peaceful silence as we ate our fries out the lids of our boxes.
"Bec are you really sure?" Her rushed voice broke the silence.
"For god sake Amy yes I'm sure!" I laugh yelled, waking up that poor lorry driver suddenly and the shock leaving him on the floor from his high seat.
We looked at each other with shock wide in our eyes, we stifled back our growing laughter as we continued to eat in silence.
As we got back into the car. Our laughter erupted from our lungs and bellowed round the tin car. The loudest and greatest laughter. The last laugh we'd have in rainy Birmingham before we took the flight and landed safely in the heart of LA.
