A significantly-more-sober Wave finds himself on the bus back to his grandmother's house two hours after kissing his amnesia-stricken high school sweetheart at a not-gay club near his apartment.
When he put it that way, he sounded like he was in some cheesy rom-com from thirty years ago.
He should feel happy that he found Pang again and that they kissed and that Pang said he wanted to see him again. But all he can feel right now is longing. He wanted to be with Pang every second of every day, but he couldn't because he knew that Pang didn't remember. He didn't know their past. Wave couldn't help but feel burdened by the knowledge of their past relationship. He knew he should hide that part of them from Pang to protect him, but it felt dishonest.
Wave's grandmother was, predictably, asleep by the time he returned home. He fell onto his tiny mattress in his date clothes, not bothering to brush his teeth or shower or anything.
The next morning, he woke up to several texts from Pang sent an hour before.
Pang: Hey! I had a lot of fun last night! Do you maybe wanna go out next weekend too?
Wave: sure.
Pang: YAY I already have a great date idea!
Wave: what is it
Pang: It's a secret~
Wave smiled at his phone. He couldn't wait until next weekend.
