Classes started the next morning for the group of five, and currently, they all sat in a room adjacent to the library being taught by Fairy Godmother. She had called this call, Remedial Goodness 101 when the group entered. Mal and Evie sat in the third row on the right side, while Jay and Carlos sat in the same row on the left side. Alex sat in the fourth row just behind Carlos, who managed to keep looking back at her.
"If someone hands you a crying baby, do you? A, Curse it? B, Lock it in a tower? C, Give it a bottle? or D, Carve out its heart?" Fairy Godmother asked excitedly looking at the uninterested teens. Mal was drawing the wand on a blank piece of paper, as Evie raised her hand proudly. "Evie?" Fairy Godmother smiled calling on the girl.
"What was the second one?" Evie asked innocently making Fairy Godmother shake her head in disappointment. "I hate this already," Alex commented rolling her eyes and leaning back in her chair. "Oh, okay. Anyone else? Mal?" Fairy Godmother asked before calling on the distracted girl.
" C, Give it a bottle," Mal responds barely looking up from her drawing. "Correct. Again." Fairy Godmother smiled proudly thinking she was getting to the girl with her goodness. "Teacher's pet." Alex scowled under her breath, causing Mal to turn to her with a glare.
"You are on fire, girl!" Carlos cheered with a large smile. "Just pick the one that doesn't sound like any fun," Mal stated matter0of-factly making Fairy Godmother's smile fall realizing that she wasn't getting to the girl. "Oh." Carlos pauses to think. "That makes so much sense!" Evie cheered as Mal rolled her eyes. Alex facepalms before slamming her head onto her table with a loud groan, making Carlos place a comforting hand on her head.
As the teens are distracted, a short girl enters with a squeal of fear drawing the entire room's attention to her. Fairy Godmother smiles at the girl before greeting her. "Oh! Hello, dear one." The girl looks back at the group in fear before turning back to Fairy Godmother. "Hi. You need to sign off an early dismissal for the Coronation." The girl whispers loudly before handing Fairy Godmother a stack of papers. "Everyone here remembers my daughter, Jane?" Fairy Godmother looks at the group, who looks at the woman in annoyance and confusion.
"Mom no!" Jane scolds her mother holding onto her arm. "It's okay. Jane, this is everyone." Fairy Godmother reassures her daughter. "Hi. That's okay, don't mind me. As you were." Jane greets before rushing out of the room making sure not to get too close to any of the tables.
"Ahem. Let's continue. You find a vial of poison. Do you? A, Put it in the King's wine. B, Paint it on an apple? or C, Turn it over to the proper authorities?" Fairy Godmother says surprised by her daughter's fear, before cheering out the next question. Mal looks over at Evie when Fairy Godmother reads letter B.
"Oh! Ooh! Get off!" Carlos yells raising his hand as Jay tries to force his hand down. "Jay." Fairy Godmother calls on the boy calmly. " C. You turn it over to the proper authorities." Jay says smugly. "I was going to say that!" Carlos whines. Jay tackles Carlos and starts to wrestle him. Evie and Mal sigh in annoyance as Alex tries to hold in her laughter. "But I said it first! Come here!" Jay yells holding Carlos down as he yells in pain. "Come on, who said it first?" Jay continues before Fairy Godmother calls for their attention. 'Boys!" She yells tapping her pointer stick on her podium. Neither of the boys stopped wrestling, so Alex stood up and pulled Jay off of Carlos.
"Aw, little Heart saving her boyfriend." Jay teases from his seat. "Say that to my face, Jerk!" Alex growls holding her fist up to show what would happen if Jay repeated his statement. "Enough! I am going to encourage you to use that energy on the tourney field." Fairy Godmother said firmly as she folded her hands together. "Oh no. That's okay. Whatever that is, we'll pass." Carlos stated calmly but his face was pushed aside by Alex, so she could look at Fairy Godmother. "You may pass, but I love a good fight!" Alex cheered with a dark smile on her face.
