While Alex was out for lunch with Tina, talking with her father's friend, Mal, Evie, and Carlos sat in the girls' dorm. Jay kicked open the door, laughing as he held up his new Tourney jersey with the number 8 and his name on it.

"Yo-ho-ho!" Jay cheered as the others looked up with a smile. "Hey!" Carlos laughs as he points at the boy. Jay walks into the room and leans over Mal's shoulder as she reads through her spellbook. "Did your plan with Jane work? Are you going over to see the wand?" Jay asks but leans back as Mal whips around to face him.

"Do you think I would be going through every single spell in this book if I hadn't struck out!" Mal growled as she turned around angrily waving around her spellbook. At that exact moment, Alex returns to the room, standing in the doorway. "Oh, someone's in a bad mood," Alex commented, smirking as Mal glared at her.

"My mom's counting on me! I can't let her down!" Mal huffed throwing her book down on the bed. "Do you see me on my hands and knees trying to appease my mom? Heck no! When you all go back to the Isle with the wand, I'm staying here and away from my mother." Alex claimed as she walked in and sat down next to Carlos, who laid his head on her shoulder. Alex ran her fingers through Carlos's hair before speaking again. "I don't think Carlos should go back either. We all know better than anyone what she does to him." Alex stated as the others looked away from her gaze.

"We can do this... if we stick together." Jay encouraged but looked around awkwardly as everyone else stared at him. "And we won't go back until we do. Because we are rotten..." Mal chimed in looking at the group. "To the core." The rest of the group chanted.

"Oh, yeah. I found out that Fairy Godmother blesses Ben with the wand at coronation and we all get to go. I have nothing to wear, of course. What?" Evie said nonchalantly before questioning the look Mal gave her. "Don't expect me to wear a dress." Alex rolled her eyes before smiling at the quiet comment about how she would look pretty, that Carlos made.

A knock rings from the room's closed door, causing all five Vks to freeze. Mal stands up and holds her finger up to quiet the current conversation. "Hold that thought." Mal firmly said as she walked over to the door. Ben appeared in the doorway of the now open door catching the people in the room off guard at his appearance.

"Hey, Mal! I didn't see you guys today. I was just wondering if you had any questions or anything... that... you needed..." Ben smiles before trailing off as he stares at Mal. "Not that I know of." Mal shrugged. "Okay. All right. If you need anything, just, uh..." Ben continues to stutter, seemingly flustered.

"Oh, wait! Um, is it true that we all get to go to your coronation?" Mal asked innocently after she stopped Ben from leaving. "Yeah, the whole school goes," Ben stated proudly as he smiled at the purple-haired girl. "Wow. That is beyond exciting. Do you think that it's a possibility that the five of us could stand in the front row next to Fairy Godmother, just so we could soak up all that goodness?" Mal asked with a fake smile.

"I wish you could. Up front it's just me, my folks, and my girlfriend." Ben sighed allowing his last two words to catch Mal's attention. "And your girlfriend," Mal asked for clarification. "Yeah. I'm sorry." Ben looked at Mal sadly.

Alex stood up and walked to the door, pretending to throw up. "Ok, we're good. You both need to walk away before I get sick for real." Alex said holding onto the edge of the door behind Mal, who turned and glared at her. "Okay. Thanks, bye." Mal waved as the door closed. "Oh, but, no there's plenty of-" Ben starts before being cut off as the door closes shut.

"I think it's time that Bennyboo got himself a new girlfriend. I need a love spell." Mal smirked as she looked over at Jay. Jay threw Mal's spell book to her, and she started to flip through the book. "Ok well count me out of that. I don't want to deal with your magic meddling and I have better things to do. Like sleep." Alex said as she pulled Carlos off of her shoulder and stood up. The group waved her goodbye, but she was stopped by Mal, who grabbed her arm. "Remember, we are not here to make friends." Mal scowled. "You might not be, but I am. I told you. I'm never going back." Alex said as she ripped her arm from Mal's grasp and slammed the door closed.
