Anaisa and her mother sat in the car in front of the house as in began to lightly rain.

"Mom?" Anaisa said.

"What?".

"Are we gonna go in or are we just gonna sit here?".

"Just.. let's go".

They both got out of the car and slowly walked towards the front door of the yellow house. Her mother rang the doorbell.

"Coming" a voice said.

"So your going to explain it now, right?".

The door swung open, revealing a familiar face.

"Oh, hey Ana" her aunt smiled. "Hey sis".

"Hello Rose" her mom said with a fake smile. "Where's Alex? Or did he finally leave you?".

"I left him, for your information" Rose said as she rolled her eyes. "And, nice to see you too".

Anaisa's mother, Ella, and Rose didn't get along very well. Rose was about 15 years younger than Ella, making her 22. They had different views on the world which made it hard for them to communicate openly with each other. Not to mention they weren't actual sister's. They were in-laws.

"I thought you lived on campus, Rose" Anaisa smiled.

"Um... We'll talk about that later" Rose said quickly, then pulled Anaisa into a tight hug. "I've missed you".

"Me too" Anaisa smiled as she hugged her aunt back.

"Can you move, your blocking the doorway" Ella said.

"Mom, don't be rude" Anaisa sighed.

"I'm not, I have to use the bathroom".

"So, has your beautiful mother told you why you're here?" Rose asked Anaisa.

"Nope, can you?".

"Nope" Rose sighed.

"Please? I don't think she will".

"It's not my place. Well I mean.. technically it is, you know the house is mine but i- your mom has to do it. And she will, trust me."

Rose was more like a cool older sister to Anaisa than she was an aunt. This made it especially easy for them to get along. Rose basically grew up with her. They used to spend a lot of their time together. But ever since Mr Avery went away, Rose only reminds Anaisa of her father.

They sat together on the couch watching a movie, sharing a big bowl of popcorn while it rained hard outside. Mrs Avery sat by the window and watched the rain fall, scared to tell her daughter what happened and why she was here, again.

"Rose?".

"Yes?".

"Do you ever think about him?" She asked.

"Of course I do" Rose shrugged, "I think about all the memories we had together as children. How he taught me to tie my shoes and ride a bike. It hurts, but it also helps sometimes".

"I.. I don't think about a lot. It hurts too much and for me it never really helps" Ana frowned. "And.." she started to sob, "you remind me so much of him. But not only you mom too and everything else reminds me of him".

Her aunt hugged her tightly, tighter than before.

"Don't you wanna see your old friends?" Rose asked. "They don't know what happened, they might help".

Anaisa started to cry more thinking about her old friends. All she could remember about them was that her father was still around back then.

"Ana?" Her mom said in a worried tone, "are you okay?".

She looked up at her mom as she whipped away her tears, "can we go see the Matthews?" She asked.

"Are you sure sweetie? What if you know who's there?".

"It's fine. After all, I think I've missed him most".
