Third Person P.O.V
She woke up, hearing the same feral shrieks and screams she'd become accustomed to. Her hands were still bound, and her muscles were tense for shaking. How long had it been? How long since it took Austin away? Were they looking for her? Even if, where should they look?
Alana sighed and lifted her head, only to jump back in fright. A gangly creature sat before her, unmoving, glaring with pure black eyes. There was nowhere to go, with her arms tied to the trees and boots scraping dead leaves. She closed her eyes, trying to regulate her breathing. She tried to ignore the twisted world until she heard approaching steps, shuffling through the leaves.
"It's okay now, Rake," Patrick said, leaning his ax against a tree, "I'm taking over. Go crawl off and do whatever you do." It growled, but sulked away while the man sat across from her on the ground.
"I suppose you're confused." He said politely, "about where we are and such." "Who are you?" "Patrick, right now," He then continued "Anyway, you've been here for about three days. I'm guessing the cloaked and crawling company you've had hasn't been good." "No..." She trailed off while he wiped blood from under his nose.
After an awkward pause, she asked "How's Josh and Austin?" "You saw Austin taken off," He cocked his head, "He's probably been picked up by some Hoosier morgue by now." She cringed, "And Josh?" "Still with your little friends, causing trouble." "He's good at that." "As are you."
She looked up, noticing how friendly his eyes were, compared to what she'd had recently. He smiled a little, standing and approaching her. He kneeled down and untied her hands. "I'd say not to run away," He sighed, "But considering we're in another dimension, you'd be an idiot for it." "Why?" "Lots of big bad monsters in this forest."
As they stood he asked "May I dance with you?" she stammered for a moment, but how could she reject? He was one of them, and would probably be thrilled to kill her just like they did Austin. She nodded, and he took her hand.
He slowly waltzed to a silent symphony, leaning in and whispering "I've been watching you for a while, Alana. You're very brave, you know? Stuck with your friends when Slender Man started showing up." "Y-yeah..." "Inspiring. Too bad Micheal and Shaun didn't see it. An alliance with the three of you back then would have been an issue, for sure." "Oh yeah? Why's that...?"
He glanced cautiously, lowering his voice along with the corners of his mouth. "I cannot be around the Keeper- Or Micheal can't. Barriers are always weaker around him." "Keeper? Wait, who is Micheal? And Shaun?" He smiled down at her pitifully, "Casualties of this war. As you will be, if you stay..." "I can't leave," She shrugged, "You said it yourself."
His hand left her side, returning to shove something sharp into her hands. The edges cut her hand, but she tried not to flinch. All of the sudden, Patrick seemed to match the friendliness in his eyes.
He leaned down, and gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek before whispering in her ear, "Follow your feeling. They'll be right behind you, every step, so run. Run fast. You need to find Jessica, the girl on Jay Merrick's videos. Keep her safe if you want any hope of getting out of this." "Wh-how do I contact you?" "Take this phone," He shoved it into her hand," "Don't call me until you find her. It's the only number in the phone. Chances are I might be a little too dead to reply."
