Third Person P.O.V
He woke up, back in the hotel. He sat up from the bed, head throbbing. "Noah?" I asked, glancing around. It wasn't the one in Colorado; the one by Rosswood Park.
THUD!
He jerked back eyes shooting to the wall. To the door in the wall.
The Door to Jessica's room.
He jumped up, throwing his door open to the dingy hallway.
"Jessica?!" He hissed, looking around. Silence was only held off by the echo of the 'thud'. Could she have hit the wall in a struggle? To get his attention? Could she hit the wall that hard even?
Before he could act, the door came open, and motion appeared in the form of a tan jacket. The man turned the other way in the hall, carrying a limp woman over his shoulder. He knew who it was; Jessica and Tim. Or Jessica and The Masked Man.
"Tim?!" He called, taking off after them, "Tim, what's going on? Where are you taking her? WHERE ARE YOU TAKING HER?!" He grabbed the jacket, but he kept marching on. He felt fear burning in his veins. This wasn't Tim. This was the alternate side. This was dangerous. But he tucked his fear away with a breath and a final lunge.
"TIM! SNAP OUT OF IT!" He shoved him against the wall, the weight of Jessica toppling the masked man over.
Jay jumped on him, trying to pin him down. It wasn't hard, he only held Jay at a distance; he didn't fight back.
"TIM WAKE UP!" He yelled, "WAKE UP PLEASE!"
He reached down and grabbed the mask, ripping it away.
There was no face.
"Jay?"
He gasped, holding his shaking hands up for protection.
"Jay," Noah's voice said, "Hey, it's okay. It's gone. We're clear for now." Something filled Jay. It wasn't as much relief as it was disappointment. Maybe it was losing Jessica in his dream. Maybe it was losing Tim again. Whatever it was, he tried to get over it.
"Y-you're alive." He muttered, throat raw. That's when he tasted the metallic sting in his mouth. "Yeah, you too," He replied, "You really gave us a scare." "You're one to talk."
Noah helped up, clearly trying to not let him see the bloody puddle where he'd been laying. "Hey!" TJ called, joining them, "The family got away. But we're ready to hit the road." "How long was I out?" "Just about 15, 20 minute," She explained, "I checked you over when you were done...." "Seizure?" "Yeah. Everyone's patched up now, so we're good to go."
Noah flopped him into the backseat, and as soon as he pulled away, the mask plopped into his lap. Holding in a gasp, he looked up, meeting Xakk's eyes. Under his annoyance, his eyes showed concern. Gears clearly turning. "We've got a new route planned. Back roads. We'll break a few speed laws, and we'll still beat them there."
Without another word, he turned, circling the car for the passenger seat. Jay grabbed his bag and tucked the mask back in. He had the urge to hide it, to bury it down so far none of them would ever see it. And yet, he also wanted it out in the open.
