Third Person P.O.V

Cars passed by along the highway, blissfully unaware.

Jay leaned against the rail. He couldn't stand the hotel room any longer. It'd filled with tension as soon as they arrived. Alana was unconsolable. Vinny was angry. Xakk was silent to their yelling, covered in bloody bandages.

"Are you okay?"

He turned, seeing Jessica standing by the door. "I guess." "Why do you have your bag?" She asked, tilting her head. It wasn't his bag, it was Tim's. It weighed heavy on him, more than a normal bag could. "It makes me feel safer." "I thought that was your camera?" He almost smiled, "Everything's been too fast to upload." "Well," She joined him at the rail, "Might be a good idea to continue again..."

They stood in silence for a moment. He wasn't sure what to say after so long apart. After everything that happened...

"So," She murmured, "Tim..." "Alex." She nodded, "I'm sorry, Jay." "Why are you apologising to me?" "Looking at your bag," She nodded, "I'm guessing you miss him pretty bad." "I haven't really... talked about it..." He admitted, "It's been- it was only a few days ago." "He was a good guy." She sighed. "Yeah," he paused, "Josh, too." "What do you think'll happen to Xakk?" Jay snorted, "Why do you think I'm out there? It's a tender box in there. I'm worried."

They fell back into silence.

Jay wasn't just worried about that. He was worried about the next step. Jessica was safe now, but it didn't feel right to leave. Slender Man would be back. He always was. But what was there for them now? Xakk had been leading them, but with what happened to Josh, he doubted that business would continue as normal.

"So, what happened to Alex?" Jessica asked, picking some paint off of the rail. "Tim didn't go down without a fight." Jay stopped, remembering Brain.

He pulled out his phone, seeing that Brian still hadn't replied. Heat hit his cheeks in a moment of surprise. He put the phone back and said, "As long as we have that book and the clock hands, they're not leaving us alone. And if we get rid of them, Slender Man'll be right back... Are you staying with the gang, Jessica?" She gave him a small smile and nodded, "You're a little brash, Jay. If Tim's not going to stop you, looks like I'll have to." She gave him a playful nudge, "Whatever happens, let's not get split up again."

"In here." Kevin Haas began, holding the door open for Brian. "You first." He smiled, clutching a gun in his pocket. Kevin nodded and went first, Brain close behind. The computer room was cool, nice against the raging Florida heat, and also dark.

"So, Noah Maxwell, huh?" Kevin said, fingers flying across the keyboard, "I know him." "Do you know his house blew up?" "Heard something about it..." "Did you know anything happening to him before that?" Brian asked, shifting on his feet, "Anything weird?" "Yeah," He said dully, "He got in to deep." "Huh?" "He got in too deep." Kevin repeated, this time with malace, "Just lie Tim and Jay. Alex. Jessica. You."

Brian had the gun out now, aimed at the back of Kevin's head. He kept his finger on the trigger ready to pull. But Kevin began laughing, a high, hysterical laugh, shoulders shaking. A sharp pain rushed through Brian's head like an icepick, making him step back. It grew and grew as metallic filled his mouth. The lights flickered.
