"Why are you particularly interested in our promotions team?" asked a bespectacled man sitting right across from her, with a stern expression.

But Ren knew better. The last 25 minutes that she had judiciously spent revealing her arsenal in the form of her past achievements, there was no way they wouldn't have been impressed with her.

"It's my forte, Shimomura-san. Since I've been a manager at the university baseball team, and before that, when I was the Treasurer and then the President of the Student Council, I've managed to increase their annual budgets by conducting all kinds of promotional activities. They not only work to make the players gain more fame and confidence, they also increase the reputation of the schools or universities involved. But more importantly, I've been a sports player myself, and I know the feelings of a sportsman and the connection that they share with their fans. Without a smidge of doubt I can say that I'll be able to bank on that experience and make it work for you as well."

She saw a slightly lift in one of the corners of his lips, and his eyes gleamed in some excitement. This was the most show of positive emotions she had seen on the serious man's mien, and she was sure that she would get the job. The man to his right was shuffling through her CV, and occasionally sending her confident smiles at her responses thus far.

The woman to his left seemed equally serious, but she hadn't been able to get a single reaction out her. She felt that she was probably the one who was in-charge, even if she was not sitting in the centre.

"That sounds promising, Shimizu-san," he glanced to is left, but the lady didn't react at all. She just kept her poker-faced gaze trained at Ren. When the interview started she didn't even introduce herself, and just sat there throughout her meeting.

"Inarizaki High School, was it?" she spoke up, finally including herself in the interview.

"Yes, ma'am," she replied.

"You'll start on Monday," she said, after pausing for a bit. "Request access to 22nd floor at the reception desk and come straight to me." She got up and turned to Shimomura-san, "Please draw up the necessary documents. I'll leave you all to discuss any other finer points. Good day." With that, she walked out of the room.

What. Just. Happened.

"Congratulations, Shimizu-san. You'll directly work with boss. Now, the salary..."

"I got the job!"

"You got the job!"

"I got THE job! Meet me at our usual place. I'm treating you to dinner tonight."

"Will be there, Ren-chan!"

And with that call, she walked back to her dormitory, her excitement even palpable to those who met her on the way.

What seemed like only moments later after that call, dinner time had quickly rolled in and she walked out to her favourite restaurant, spotting the raven-haired boy standing outside.
