"Front! Front! Front!"
*squeal*
*thunk*
*whoosh*
*bump*
*squeak*
*thump*
"Yosh! Once more!" exclaimed captain Shugo-san, while patting Atsumu's back, on the sublime receive he managed with the unexpected faint attack from Kiyoomi-kun on the opposite side of the court. Even though Atsumu was almost a couple of feet away from the where the ball was about to drop, his quick legwork saved the ball, leading Shugo-san to quickly spike it back to where Kiyoomi-kun couldn't reach the ball to receive it.
Although they were having a mock match for generating promotional content through images and videos for their upcoming fixture against Aran-san's formidable team, in Ren's eyes, the current set of players on the MSBY were in absolute top condition. They seemed ready to take the bull by its horns, and effortlessly too.
That very morning, Ren had also received a fantastic email from the Promotions Department of another incredibly intimidating team from Tokyo. The email detailed a proposal to collaborate in promoting their upcoming match-up during the divisional games, and this she couldn't wait to tell the coach and the team!
Sensational...
After a powerful spike caught back Ren's full attention, drawing her into the on-going practice, her eyes swerved to the face of Bokkun, the very source of the loud boom.
Caught in the bang of his hefty spike that echoed across the court, all eyes turned towards him, and Ren watched him immersed in his triumph. His face showed glee and hunger dancing an impassioned number, as he landed back on the ground accompanied by the booming thump of his indoor shoes.
But despite this latest display of his innate power, Ren knew from Kuroo's stories that he was just beginning to power up and these weren't the limits of his might underneath that beefed up built. He pumped his fist in the air with his iconic "Hey! Hey! Heyyy!" That got his teammates to surround him to give him high fives, including Atsumu and Hinata, who was especially bouncy about the thundering echo it left In the court.
Dominating...
And as quickly as her attention was diverted by Bokkun, an extremely nasty spinning spike caught her eyes as the ball spun out of the boundaries of the court in a crazy curve-ball. Kiyoomi-kun, in all his quiet swagger, noiselessly clenched his fist, establishing his unparalleled level of supremacy in the game. The quiet, introverted demeanour was definitely not to be taken as a sign of his level of competency.
When behind the mask, he was only the mysophobic, rational-to-the-core and realistic man, who mostly kept to himself and people that he deemed trustworthy against his own barometer. But when the mask came off, all his shackles, all the conditions he placed upon himself, and everything that his mysophobia held him back from, broke off in an instant. Only to reveal the man with a wrist worth a billion yen.
Shielded by the mask, beneath the deceptive calm waters, were the strong currents of a whirlpool that would drag an unsuspecting soul down into despair.
Ensnaring...
But a blur of black and orange whizzed past her, leaving some strands of her hair wildly flying about her face. And long after that spike could even be seen, Ren's eyes finally zero-ed onto Shouyo-kun. While her wild strands of hair had finally settled back, the shock she experienced hadn't.
Wasn't he in the other corner of the court just now?!
"Ren-chan, did you see the divisional plays-offs' match-ups?" the coach's voice resonated, and she was drawn back from her stupor.
"Oh yes, coach. Our first match is scheduled in Sendai," she said.
"Yes. An interesting match it will be. I intend to keep Hinata off the main team during the match against Falcons, because he'll debut in the divisionals," he replied, flashing a self-satisfied smirk.
... of course... Of course he would take advantage of that fact. Miyagi was Shouyo-kun home ground, and the match-up with that team would draw fans from across the prefecture!
Oh, the power of that promotional campaign! No wonder, they wrote to us...
"They requested to collaborate in the promotions of both the teams and their star members," she responded back, making the coach smile even wider.
Oh, they really couldn't wait!
She understood the value of keeping him a secret before that match, and thought it was a really brilliant idea. And then, something that Shouyo-kun did, sent a chill down her spine.
He had spiked with his left. And he was right-handed.
Boundless...
But before she could mull over her shock, a sharp bark of laughter rang from across the court, and her gaze shifted to the blonde, who was gleaming wickedly at this revelation. He walked over to Shouyo-kun, and patted his back in what seemed like pride mixed with.... Hunger?
They gradually settled into their position but Ren could see the gears shifting in his head the entire time. Clearly, he was contemplating more ways of using Shouyo-kun and his ambidexterity on the court.
Swift to conform to any changes, quick on his feet to take his opponents by surprises and unexpected twists and turns, an incredible control over how to best use his teammates' strengths and capabilities, and a never-satiated thirst to win. This man was the real power behind the throne, and his eyes shone with the undercurrents of his mercurial emotions which were in far better control than when he was younger.
Mercurial...
"They're out to ravage everything that stands in their path, Ren-chan. This year's divisional is going to be unlike any other," the coach said while smirking.
Carnivorous...
Any other time, it would seem as if they were scoring against a tough opponent. Considering this was just a play-off for audio and visual content generation, Ren was amazed by the level of intensity that these players had brought to the court.
How crazy good will they be when they would be playing in an actual match?! It would be legendary to watch!
And we're definitely getting some great shots of them today...
