Strange isn't it, running to help others and not yourself. But of course he had to help everyone, they were all practically his family.
You probably don't understand what's happening, so let me explain.

Shuichi's POV
The doors, they were so close, could I get there in time?!
18 seconds
Kokichi, Rantaro, Junko, Makoto, Chihiro they were all counting on me to save them.
15 seconds
The doors burst open, I made it! I can save everyone!
13 seconds
"EVERYONE GET DOWN!" Makoto and Kokichi were the only ones in the hall...
12 seconds
I pulled out my gun, if they won't listen to me the gun could at least send them into a state of fear. A state where I can tell them what to do.
10 seconds
Kokichi furrowed his eyebrows, "Shu, what's wrong?" I want to tell him everything but there was no time.
8 seconds
Makoto laughed, "Whenever Shuichi's nervous or mad his ahoge gets hard and spiky!" This isn't a joke! Why can't he see that!
6 seconds
"I SAID GET DOWN! NOW!" This was my last chance, they won't die!
5 seconds
Kokichi sighed and got on the ground dragging Makoto down with him, "Sure...but you better tell me why after!"
3 seconds
I got down on the ground next to the two and held them close.
The least I could do was hope the other were safe...

3rd person
The bomb went off...a loud boom echoed throughout the area. Furniture shook and rubble flew everywhere. Junko had a lot of cleaning to do...
"AH SHOOT! THAT BOOM WAS LOUD!" Makoto yelled, talk about exaggeration.
"What...was that Shumai?"
"A bomb."
Kokichi stumbled while trying to stand up. "How'd you know about it Shu?"
Shuichi stood up and brushed down his clothes in attempt to get the dirt and other things off his clothes.
"I came across it while walking here."
The purple-nette smiled, "Well you are the detective here! It's only fair you did!"
The detective continued, "I ran in to save you..."
"Aww Shu-shu wanted to save me!~" Kokichi's smile turned into a wide grin.
