17. Is this our Happy Ending?

Hyun Mae's POV

Three weeks or so after, I was discharged from the hospital. Dongwoo was there everyday to check my condition. Chief and the others visit me from time to time.

Chief said, one day he visited me, that all of the workers were put into jail and a lot of drugs were confiscated. I also learned from them that Il-woo died. They managed to bring him to the hospital but he's dead on arrival.

We came in our house and I feel so relieved. Ah~ there's no place like home. I turned to face Dongwoo who gave us a ride home.

"Thanks for the ride," I said and we both smile with each other, drowning ourselves in our eyes that are full of emotions.

"Thanks for the ride, son-in-law," mom said who still hasn't gone inside the house. Both of us looked at her. Dongwoo, giving him a shy smile while me, giving her a stare which says that we need some privacy.

As if mom got the message, she lift the bag full of my things. "Yeah.. I'll go.. inside.. now... Yeah," she said and immediately went inside.

Dongwoo chuckled and after assuring that mom is already inside, he held my hands and pulled me close to him. He cupped my cheeks and I held those.

"Want to come inside first?" I asked. He shook his head and traced my cheeks with his thumb.

"I need to go back to the station," he slightly distanced himself from me. "Don't forget to drink what the doctor gave you, okay?"

I nodded as response. He turned around to go back to his car but turned back again. "I forgot something."

Before I could ask what it is, he gave me a long, satisfying kiss. "Bye," then he kissed the tip of my nose. I went inside the house with a huge smile that can't be erased from my face.

Two weeks after and everything went back to normal. They all warmly welcomed me back at the station. The best part that happened after? Dongwoo and I are now officially a couple.

I remember that night in his car when he drove me home, I asked him. "So... Are we now officially dating?"

He turned to face me and gave me a serious face which made me nervous. "No."

I felt so disappointed but he added. "'Cause we are now officially a couple." Nothing can compare with the happiness I felt that night.

Today is our rest day and it's a beautiful day so I decided to go to his house. I often go there whenever it's our rest day. To clean his house and to bring him mom's dishes. Yep. I am also his official maid.

He immediately opened his door after just pressing the doorbell once. It seems like he really is expecting me to come. I went inside and was shocked to see his house spotless.

"Woa, you cleaned?" I asked as I turned to him. He widely smile and nodded.

"Why didn't you bring anything? Where are your mom's dishes?" he asked.

"Heol! You're only expecting me to come because of my mom's dishes?" I pretend that I was hurt. He walked towards me and pulled me close to him.

"Eii... Aniya," he traced the bridge of my nose.
