3. Reasons

I just want to make a shout out of the amazing Infinite ff made by Alandria6, I'll be with you In Spirit. I'm telling you guys, that story is so wonderful. It made me cry a river.

Hyun Mae's POV

"That's why I told you I don't want a partner!" I heard Dongwoo shouted.

"Stop making excuses for what happened!" the chief shouted back.

They are currently inside the meeting room and discussing about what happened earlier. I feel guilty because I feel that I'm the reason why they're quarreling.

I'm beside the meeting room's door, waiting for my turn to have a discussion with the chief. That's why I can hear what they are talking about inside.

"I'm not making excuses! You know the reason why I insist not to have a partner!" Dongwoo angrily said.

"Reason?" I whispered to myself. What reason?

There was a complete silence before I heard the chief sighed and talked again.

"It's been two years, Dongwoo. Can't you --"

"Stop!" Dongwoo cut the chief from talking.

"Stop telling me to move on! You don't know how I feel! Nobody knows how I feel!" Dongwoo said and I can hear his footsteps approaching the door. I was frozen from where I'm standing when he came out and slammed the door behind him. He looked at me for a second then walked away.

"D- Dongwoo?" I called which made him stop.

"I... I'm sorry," I apologized.

"The chief wants you inside," he said and completely walked away.

I don't know why but it hurts me when he acts this way towards me, like he dislikes me. I let out a deep sigh before entering the meeting room.

"I'm sorry for what happened chief," I immediately apologized when I got inside. Chief crossed his arms on his chest and looked at me.

"What you did was so reckless and unprofessional," he started which made me hang my head down. I can't look straight at him from embarrassment.

"...and I say that you were also brave," I look at him from what he said. "Not everyone will do what you did. Your bravery saved a civilian."

"You did as good job," he smiled. "But don't do that again. I don't want to loose another member of my squad. You're dismissed."

I got a soda in can from the vendo machine and sat at the couch, I'm currently in the recreation area.

Someone died from chief's squad? Was that person Dongwoo's former partner? Is that the reason why he doesn't want to have a partner?

A lot of questions are in my mind right now and I am cut from my thoughts when Hoya sat beside me.

"A penny for your thoughts?" he asked and drank from his soda in can. I look at him and chuckled a bit then stared at the soda in can that's on my hands.

"Is it about what happened earlier?" he asked.

"It's actually about Dongwoo," I said and looked at him. "Why does he dislike me?"

He chuckled at what I said.

"He doesn't dislike you. There's a reason why he's acting that way." I just stared at him, waiting for him to continue.
