He just stared at her. It was all he could do. She made him breathless and awake all at once. His heart was beating so hard against his chest, he was sure it would slip through the bone and escape from his rib cage. Draco didn't think that would be such a problem because he knew exactly where it would go.

Hermione and he connect because they are both emotionally suffering from the effects of the war. They discover that while they are both broken they can be more complete together.
