I had half an hour till Jace came to take me to his house to meet his family for dinner. Jace had had dinner with my family last weekend so it was only fair that I met his.

I decided to dress up a bit and put on a green slip dress with a gold necklace and hoop earrings. I left my hair out, Jace always said he liked me better with my hair out, I did my make up with gold highlights and glossy lips. First impressions were everything and Jace said to dress fancy to get the best first impression.

I had 10 minutes left so I sat on the couch and scrolled through Instagram.

Ding. Ding. Ding.

The doorbell echoed through the silent house, my dad was still at work and Emma was staying the night at Julians house. I fixed myself up and opened the door, Jace was in a black suit and his hair was actually brushed and looked neat. His eyes raked over me and made me feel like he was judging my life choices.

"You look - you look stunning." He muttered, I blushed and took his outstretched hand. "You don't look to bad yourself." I giggled, it was still humid outside so we didn't bother with coats. "If you're wearing a suit then this must be a fancy occasion. We are we going?" I think I have a new fetish. Jace Herondale in a suit.

"Its a surprise and yes, this is a special occasion and if I'm wearing a suit for it then my parents will know you mean something important to me." I didn't reply, Jace was trying to make it seem like I was special to him, he probably did this with Kaelie too.

My smile must have disappeared because Jace took my hand in his and kissed it. "Hey, you okay? You don't look as happy as you were a second ago." I tried to smile but I felt stupid tears form in my eyes. I looked away from Jace's judgmental eyes even though they were half on the road on half on me, I hastily rubbed my eyes to get the tears away. This is so embarrassing I thought.

Jace pulled to the side of the road and turned his attention to me,"If you don't want to go then I can tell my parents you weren't feeling well, I'm sorry if I put to much pressure on you with the whole suit thing." He chucked and held my hand in is strong grip, I smiled and kissed his cheek. Jace gently wiped my face with him thumb and fixed my tear problem.

"Why were you crying, you looked so beautiful when you smiled before." He whispered and stroked my face with his thumb. A calming gesture.
I laughed a little, "I was thinking about the fact that you probably did this to every girl you've ever dated. I don't know why I cried, maybe its because I can imagine you showing off your girlfriends to your parents with a real smile on your face. Not just this show we have to put on. I'm sorry, this is probably really awkward right now, Kaelie probably did this better than I am." I sniffled and tried with all my might not to let another tear slip.

Jace chuckled and shook his head in disbelief. "You think I do this for any girl? I may have had a girlfriend or 5 but I don't just show any of them off to my parents, I never even brought Kaelie to my house. We never went to either of our houses during the 2 years we were dating. You're the second girl I've formally brought to my house." I raise day eyebrows, "The second girl was Izzy, your friend, her parents and mine were having a business meeting and we were forced to wear dresses and suits. God, I haven't seen Alec look more uncomfortable in his life."

Jace laughed and took both my hands into his. "This may seem fake to you but right now, I'm not faking when I say I think I'm falling in love with you, Clarissa Fairchild." His golden eyes held seriousness and lust, I lightly kissed his lips and blushed. "I think I'm falling in love with you too, Jace Herondale." I whispered. Jace smiled wider than I thought was possible, he grabbed my chin and we had a full make out session in the driveway of the highway.
