Valerie's POV

"How can you say that you like someone?"

Bea said as she held a pocket book tightly in her arms, she was reading a romantic novel since it's our break time. The boys are in the other corner of the room across ours while Bea and I were talking about the book she was reading. She went on and on about it and she kept asking me a lot of questions, as if I knew how to respond. She looked so invested in reading the book. She was very interested about it, I just don't know why she's asking me even if she clearly knows I haven't read it yet.

When she finally left me alone, I scavenged through my bag to see if I have anything in there that could ease my boredom. Our next class would be around 30 minutes and I'm starting to feel impatient. This next class is also our last class for the entire day, I just couldn't wait to go home and relax. Then, my stomach started to rumble, distracting me from the boredom I was feeling just a few minutes ago. I held my stomach, contemplating on going to the cafeteria or just staying here.

I rested my head on the table, covering my face with my left arm, I decided to just wait for the time to pass by until it's my next class. The cafeteria felt too far away from this lecture room and I wouldn't want to tire myself out, this is the last bits of my energy left here and I still need it for the next and last class. My mind started to rumble along with my stomach. It sounds like they're arguing. That's when I felt something move near me.

I looked up and it was Elijah, slowly and carefully sliding a chocolate bar on my desk. When I caught him, he just laughed and quickly placed the bar in front of me. I gave him a huge smile before taking the chocolate bar that was placed right in front of me. I didn't hesitate anymore, my stomach was already dying its way in finding something to consume. Good thing Elijah's such an angel, he is always thoughtful. He never changed.

"How about me?" Bea asked and Elijah denied. There wasn't any chocolate bars left, he claimed. And with that, they both started to argue and took turns trying to tease and insult each other. They were pretty noisy and my ears started to hurt. Bea acted hurt and she even held her chest. "I can't believe you Eli! I am so disappointed in you..." She even joked around.

"Seriously? You're mad at me for a chocolate bar?!" Elijah laughed hysterically while holding his stomach. He almost fell off his chair when he couldn't stop himself from cracking up. All of our other classmates kept looking at him but he couldn't even bother to care. He was just being him. I could see how Bea's irritated by his laughter. These things happen a lot, same with Bea and Zeiner. "I'll bring you three boxes tomorrow so stop being feisty. Just throw your stubbornness to somebody else, like Zeiner... Geez."

"Whatever Elijah!" She said but Eli just laughed and later on, he went back to the guys. Bea kept reading the book, the minutes passing by until it was almost our next and final class for today. Again, I couldn't wait to go home. "I swear Valerie, if you're going to read this book, you'll love it as much as I do! Trust me!"

"Uh-huh..." I nodded, slowly giving in. Bea has high standards when it comes to books. It must be really good because she likes it so much. It was only three days when she started reading the book but she's already in the middle part of it. It made me think that maybe I should also give it a shot. "What is it about? What's the plot of the story?"

"So the girl, which is also the main character, thinks she likes this guy but she's scared of liking him..." She smiled while explaining it to me. Then, the story started to feel familiar, it was somehow relatable... "She spends the rest of her time trying to figure out if she really does like him or maybe it's just a phase. You will have to read the book to know more... But I have a question."
