Valerie's POV

"Woah?! They're together now! Have you seen Tyler's post?"

Sabrina said as she followed me to my room, holding her phone. I just arrived from the hilltop since it was already getting late. Through the entire drive, I was very silent. I didn't turn the radio on and I didn't listen to any music, the only thing that was loud was my thoughts. I inferred that when this day comes, it would not hurt me anymore because I prepared and I was ready for it. Yet there I was, feeling the weight on my chest, feeling that painful burn on my throat because I couldn't bring myself to cry.

I sat on my bed and I took my boots off, and then I stared at Sabrina who immediately sat beside me. She was busy scrolling through social media, but I know she wants to talk about Tyler's post with Clare. I would have tried my best to avoid the topic but Sab is very pertinacious and I know she will never stop bothering me until I agree with her terms. I sighed and flopped to my bed, she was still sitting on the edge, looking at me, waiting for me to speak up.

"Yes, I saw his post already." She nodded and turned her phone off, expecting me to say more. I don't even know what to tell her, and there were certain things I could tell but I don't want to. I can't tell her that I'm hurt, and I can't tell her that it pains me to see those photos, to bear the feeling of reading the comments and the caption, the unexplainable feeling I get whenever I remember the way he stared at her on those photos. "I'm happy for Tyler. He has been courting her for a while already."

"Uh huh? Are you sure?" She asked with a smirk on her face, telling me that she's not convinced. I covered my face with one of my pillows, when I took it off, she already stood up and walked towards the door. "Whatever you say, Val. But I know you're hiding something, and if you aren't comfortable talking about it, I understand. Feel anything you need to feel right now, if you need me, I'm in my room. You can knock any time you want. Good night."

When she closed the door, I stood up and started to arrange my stuff because I couldn't sleep. I tidied up my study table since my notebooks and worksheets were all scattered everywhere and it made a huge pile of mess, then, I fixed my bed sheets and my pillows. I organized the stuffed toys on my shelf when I saw a very familiar one, it was a small beige teddy bear with a light blue scarf on in and it had the words 'Congratulations Val' printed on it. I smiled, remembering the memories behind the teddy bear.

It was our graduation party, I can still see the vivid image of my classmates running around the hallway while cheering. After the ceremony, the students roamed around the entire campus to celebrate and to take photos, to keep those photos as one of the greatest treasures we would forever hold. The sound of my fellow graduates screaming for the success made my heart swell with pride, this was finally it. Another milestone. My mind couldn't process the fact that I finally graduated high school.

While standing near the podium, I was watching Tyler walk towards me. He was holding a brown paper bag and he had the smile of a very fortuitous man, he looked like he won the lottery. When he has gotten closer, he swooped me in for a very tight hug. I placed my arms around him as I brought him closer for the hug, it was getting tighter. We only separated when I started complaining that it was getting too tight.

"Congratulations to us Val! We did it!" He said in such excitement in his voice. I smiled at him, he looked so happy. I was happy too. And as I continuously stared at him as he celebrated, I imagined how Aunt Emily would feel once she would witness Tyler on that stage and giving his speech. He dedicated it to her, his Dad and Kairus. While enjoying the moment, Tyler suddenly handed me the paper bag. "This is for you, it's my gift. This isn't much, I just really wanted to give you something."
