Valerie's POV

"Three caramel macchiatos, two mocha frappes and five servings of strawberry cheese cake. Noted. I'll be back with your order."

The waitress said before she walked away. After playing in the arcade for a few hours, we went to Beachwood Café. Since we're already here, the five of us decided to study as a group since our monthly examinations are up. I was going through my notes, but then I could never ignore the temptation of looking at Tyler. I kept looking over to his direction, noticing every nice detail on his facial features. As I stared at him, he was busy writing something on a piece of paper.

There was a provident smile on his face as he peered his eyes on the paper he was writing on. I tried to smother the thought of smiling too but his smile was somehow very transmissible. Something disparate was in his eyes, there's inarguable devotion and passion in them. His eyes screamed to say he was indeed in love, for sure he was thinking of her. It breaks my heart, but a smile on his face meant he was happy and certain.

Incontinently, Tyler gave me the piece of paper as it was already folded and sealed with a sticker from the page he had inside the pocket of his backpack. I watched him as he shifted the seat farther from the table so he could stand up, he then sets a box on the table. It contained the butterfly necklace he's planning to give Clare on her birthday, the one I helped him find. I looked up to see his face clearly, he gave me a grin.

"Can you please put the letter inside? I really need to use the restroom." He asserted, looking down on me with despairing eyes, like he really does need to use the restroom and I was keeping him from doing so. I laughed a bit but he didn't appreciate it, for some reason, he looks constipated while standing in front of me. "You can read it, check if I made any mistakes. I know you're more creative than me. Okay, I really need to go, I can't hold it in much longer."

Bea, Zeiner and Elijah were all pre-occupied with their notes and binders so they didn't really pay much attention to me and Tyler. They looked very serious and also, focused. Determined to learn more from their notes, they are very hands on with school, especially Bea, who's always been at the top of the class. I took my phone out and then snapped a few stolen shots of them, I checked the photos and saw that my camera managed to get a shot of the box on the table.

It was the necklace, I forgot to put the handwritten letter inside. Before I could even put it in, I remembered that Tyler allowed me to read it, so I did. I was curious. As much as I don't want to hurt myself, I was also prying to know whatever was written on it. I know this is potentially bad for me and my heart, but my curiosity just won't leave me alone. I have already wondered for so long, I really need to see or snoop... in the details of this letter. After all, Tyler did say it was okay.

Clare,

When I saw this necklace, I knew this is the perfect gift to give you on your special day. It's an emblem that symbolizes how lovely you are in my eyes, that to me, you are a stunning butterfly. The color in the wings I see in you, is the same color that reflects every time I see your smile, that your colors... also gives color to my world. Happy birthday Clare. I'm glad you're a part of my life.

—Tyler

I could feel the tears proliferate in my eye sockets, my heart was agonizing as I oftentimes read the letter. While trying my best to conceal the twinge in my chest, I folded the paper back to how it was when he passed it to me, and then cleaved the sticker back to make it look untouched. Then, I opened the box with the necklace inside, I placed the letter under it and then closed it again. I sighed and moved the box a little, to make it face Tyler's direction when he comes back.
