She gets a frightening look on her face as I place my index finger over her lips and whisper"hush."  The next thing I heard was Dane yelling "Rane!"I had never been happier than I was in that moment of hearing him yelling my name I sighed not realizing I had been holding my breath then yelled back" Over here Dane" he comes walking around the tree "oh wow I know what you two have been doing the smell is distinctive and by the way brother her dad is right behind me," he laughs.

"V my baby girl are you ok?"Pops comes from around the big redwood laying on the ground and rushes to V picking her up in his arms and carrying her out of the woods. Her body, limp in his arms. Dane and I follow  Pops out of the woods and to the truck as he places her worn body in the truck like it was a broken china doll."Pops, I was so scared Pops"I cry holding on to my Pops.

                                                               Kendra's POV

We pull up at the house and Allie comes running out "Oh, V, I was so scared something bad had happened to you and there was nothing I could do."Rane jumps out of the back of the truck and picks me up I wrap my arms tightly around his neck not wanting to let go nuzzling my head in the crook of his neck. Carrying me into my room putting me on my bed and covering me up he climbs over me and lays beside me putting his arm under my head. He stayed all that night. I snuggled up to him as I heard his thought. I felt like I was finally home. That night he told me he has loved me since he was sixteen and he promised he would never love another. After laying there for a moment I realized I needed a shower I felt so dirty. So I get up to go shower I stand under the water watching at my feet as the water was a brown color until it went clear. The heat relaxing every muscle in my body. I felt so drained all I wanted to do was sleep. I throw on some nightclothes and walk downstairs. Everybody is out on the porch. I stick my head out the screen"I am going to bed love you all."I get in my room and get comfy in my bed when Rane comes in shuts the door behind him and climbs in the bed behind me sliding his arm under my neck. I turn over and rest my head on his chest the rhythm of his chest rising and deflating put me straight to sleep.

The next morning he is gone. I pull myself up out of the bed and stumble to the kitchen rubbing my eyes"Hey V how are you feeling this morning ?"

"Sore Allie, sore all over"I pour me a cup of coffee and sit down at the table Allie walks up behind me and massages my shoulders.

"So what are your plans for today?"I get up to eat the leftover breakfast sitting on the stove grabbing a pancake folding it up and taking a bite and grabbing a piece of bacon.

"I thought I might go see if I still have a job I need to start figuring out what my life looks like from here it has been a roller coaster since I got back home."

"Care if I go with you see if I can get a job here maybe we can find our own house to live in together?" Allie says as she sits down in front of me. I guess she plans on staying here for awhile her parents aren't gonna be happy with that choice.

"Sure, Allie be ready in ten minutes."I grab another piece of bacon and go get dressed. We pull through the gate at the MCCSP office. We get in it seems like Dan has quit and moved on so I sit down and wait for the new boss to call me in Allie is filling out an application form.

"Miss Bane and Miss Hayworth come into my office please you two are straight out of college and want jobs here?"We sit down and listen to her "My name is Laura Myson we have a short file on you Miss Bane you worked maybe a week at most?"

"My grandmother passed and she was just being a good friend Mrs.Myson"

I and Allie both got a job we start first thing in the morning. I wait for Allie to get her uniform.
