The next morning I get up late but everyone else is still asleep. I decide to go ahead and start some breakfast. As I start setting the table, there's a loud knock at the front door. I go to answer it.

"Pops, you just now getting home?"

"Yeah, I didn't take my keys with me."

"You spent the entire night with Terry I am assuming," I guess with a raised brow.

"What was that blurt out about last night, V?" He is clever and changes the subject.

"Pops I am just realizing I am more like you than I ever thought was possible," I say as I walk back into the kitchen and sit down at the table to eat .Allie comes in rubbing her eyes and yawning.

"How did you sleep, Allie?" Pops ask her.

"Not to good. All that howling in the middle of the night kept waking me up," she states as she sits down. "You never said there were wolves close by, Kendra. If you would have I would have gotten you something else for your birthday."

"That wasn't wolves. Probably all them dogs next door, Allie." I say trying to convince her otherwise.

"Kendra, anybody can tell a dog's howl from a wolf's. You know we studied wildlife behavior. What you learned at school has already escaped you?" She laughs at her "joke". Pops starts laughing with her.

"She is smarter than you, V," he joins in.

"Hey! No ganging up on the birthday girl, you two." I point my finger at them shaking my head.

"V, whatever your plans are today I need you back home at 6 tonight," he says adamantly.

"Okay, Pops. That's totally not because of that surprise birthday party you are throwing me." I laugh out and he chuckles with me.

"Let's head out Allie. We have a 3 hour drive to Chowchilla."

"Is that where you two are headed? Tell my old buddy Kaden I said hi and for him to come visit soon." He laughs like he made a joke or something. We head out for a fun filled day to celebrate my twenty second birthday. We take my car so I can control the radio. Three hours of nothing but chit chat can drive a person insane. We get to the Wolf Sanctuary and see that they have bobcats too. I run into someone and see that they have a name tag on their shirt that says "Kaden".

"Hey, my Pops, Damon Bane said to tell you hey and that you need to come visit soon." He starts laughing.

"Tell your pop when hell freezes over and hey back at him." He walks off laughing like it was an inside joke between them.

We look at all the wolves. They had some beautiful ones, especially the new ones. They were all pups and they were solid white with blue eyes. A few grey ones from a different pack were also really pretty. We got to walk in and pet them.  Allie holds one up to here face. "This one looks like me." She grabs one of the grey ones. It had yellow-gold eyes just like her. She picks up a white one and says, "See this one looks like you. It has bright, sky blue eyes. You could be it's mom if you didn't have dark hair. Maybe he get's the white hair from his daddy." She starts laughing so hard she rolls over on her side.

"What Allie?" I ask I knew something crazy was going through her mind and I was right.

"What if his daddy is like eighty and has white hair from age?" She instantly laughs. I put the pup down and stand up.

"That is not funny. That is gross, Allison Hayworth." I smack her in the arm and walk out of the enclosure. The gate slams shut behind me.

I see a sign with a bobcat on it. "Look Allie! Bobcat enclosures. Let's go see the kitties." I point. Allie gets up and comes out.
