Catchphrase, week leading up to Thanksgiving

"Wow." Danny pouted as he walked up to Steve. "Gotta say, I'm a little hurt babe."

Steve smirked, folding his arms, "Danny, I've never lost a Thanksgiving football match. Ever . Not even when I was a teen volunteer helping out my gramps. My team has always won."

"Wow." Danny nodded. "So it's like that then?"

Everyone had been a little shocked when Steve hadn't picked Danny for his team. Most of all Danny.

"You told me yourself, Danny, " Steve explained, "You've been sabotaging all our games. I couldn't risk you doing that today."

Danny nodded, "Oh trust me babe, I'm not going to sabotage anything today. I'm playing to win." He cracked his knuckles and stretched out his back. "I'm kickin your ass today."

"I'm kicking your ass today." Steve teased as they walked back to his cabin.

They were sweaty and dirty and breathless.

"Shuddup," Danny muttered.

"My ass is feeling fine. How's yours? Sore?"

"Watch yourself Steven. Or do you not want that ride to the airport anymore?" Danny said.

Steve grinned as he apologized.

"This is going to be good." Steve said as he pulled out his own set of keys to Danny's car.

Danny walked over to the passenger side as Steve walked to the driver's seat. "That's your catchphrase."

Not only was Danny going straight to Steve's from camp, he was also staying through the weekend and week in the lead up to Thanksgiving.

Trial run.

That's what Danny had told Steve. He could make his decision, on the whole Friday carpool thing, after Thanksgiving. For now, they were having a trial run.

Though Steve knew their Friday night would go much like the rest of their weeknights alone had gone that past week, cleaning.

They were almost done clearing out the room, and tonight was the final stretch.

Mary arrived Saturday afternoon. The plan was to pick up Gracie, have a quick breakfast then head over to the airport.

Steve was excited to see his sister again. Excited for her to meet Danny and Gracie.

And he was equal parts nervous about it.

He was more than happy Danny had gotten work off and agreed to just stay at Steve's. More than happy Gracie had gotten permission from Rachel to spend the week there as well. More than happy that for the first time since his parent's divorce, there was going to be a full house.

But his nervousness matched his happiness, almost threatening to overpower it.

Steve compartmentalized his feelings and focused on planning the best Thanksgiving ever.
