Once Haerin and Jisung got back, campers were beginning to line up for food. Jisung told her that he was going to report the monster to Taeyong and then he'll be joining the rest of them for dinner since it was the night of capture the flag.
As Haerin sat down, she heard campers already begin to discuss potential strategies for the game. Haerin was simply listening when Jisung sat down across from her.
"Is this game really that serious?" Haerin asked. Jisung nodded.
"It is. There's no prize but bragging rights is a big part of it." Jisung told her just as Haechan and Renjun walked by, laughing. Jisung shot them a look.
"Hyung, can you tell us who the captains for tonight are?" A young boy asked. Jisung only smiled.
"Hyunsoo, you know I can't tell you that." Jisung replied, making the boy pout.
"Aw, I wanted to know." Hyunsoo said, crossing his arms. Jisung ruffled his hair.
"Don't worry, you'll find out soon enough." Jisung said, a wide grin on his face.
Once dinner was over, the demigods began preparing for the game. Haerin followed Jisung into the Hermes' cabin.
As they entered, Haerin saw the members of the cabin pull out various trinkets from their trunks, transforming them into weapons before back to trinkets, placing them in their pockets.
Haerin already had her dagger and knife on her belt, so she followed Jisung into his room as he got ready.
"Let's see." Jisung hummed to himself, opening a drawer. He shifted through before pulling out a long chain necklace with a pair of wings on it.
"What's that?" Haerin asked as Jisung put it on.
"Shield, gift from my father. Want to see?" Jisung asked. Haerin nodded and Jisung tugged at the charm which soon came off, turning into a large golden shield.
"Are all weapons little accessories?" Haerin asked as Jisung returned the shield to it's normal form.
"No, but most are. It helps us blend into human world." Jisung explained before checking his watch. "We should head out, Taeyong's going to be explaining the rules soon."
Haerin followed the boy outside where the campers were already gathered. Taeyong stood on a platform, the trainers behind him. The head counsellors were lining up their cabins behind them. Haerin stood behind Jisung.
"Head counsellors, is everyone out?" Taeyong asked.
"Yes, sir!" The head counsellors replied in unison. Taeyong clapped his hands together.
"Good, let's go over the rules again. Two teams, flags must be visible, guards can't stand closer than ten feet, no killing or maiming, magic items are allowed, prisoners may be disarmed but not bound or gagged, to win, cross the river with your opponent's flag, am I missing anything?" Taeyong asked, turning around.
"Nope." Doyoung, one of the trainers replied. Taeyong nodded his head.
"Alright. Let's announce the two team captains."
Haerin felt the eagerness as the campers looked around, wondering who the captains were going to be.
"Captain of red team is Lee Jeno. Captain of blue team is Lee Mark."
Cheers and groans erupted from the cabins as Mark and Jeno went up onto the platform. Taeyong flipped a coin and Mark called heads. Taeyong nodded to Mark, signalling that he may choose his team first.
"Since Mark is the only one in Zeus' cabin, he will be choosing two cabins the first round." Taeyong announced.
"Artemis and Apollo." Mark announced. A large groan was released from the campers as Haechan and Renjun high-fived each other.
