CHAPTER 14

CARYS'S POV

We got to class rather early for prep. When I say we I mean all of us except Nachi. She was  in a hurry for some reason I have no clue about.

Since, it was prep you could sit on any seat of your choice. I looked around the class in search of Nachi; as a caring friend, to say the least.

I spotted her at the back of the class, reading like her life depended on it. She continued reading not paying any attention to Gabriel when he sat beside her.

I was disrupted from my trail of thoughts because of Devin.

"Stop staring, she's not running" Devin said.

"Did I say she's running" I replied annoyance lacing my tone; no need to hide it.

"Ah, sorry oh" he replied raising his hands in a mock surrender kind of way.

That thing annoys every fibre of being in me.

I hissed and pushed him out of my way.

I brought out my physics textbook and decided to study ahead. There was a loud laugh from the back of the class and we all turned to see who laughed but not before Mrs. Cooky came into the class asking who laughed.

Teachers really liked Gabriel and it was rumoured that he'll become the head boy when we are in SS3. That's a position I've been aspiring and working so hard to get, that's why I hope and pray that it's just a rumour.

I glared at Gabriel so hard and he said something to Nachi that made her look at me. She said something to him and continued reading.

Our prep continued like that without anyone talking or laughing.

Prep ended and we packed up our books and other stuffs. I started walking out of the class but Nachi called me back so I had to wait. She finished packing and walked beside me, trying to initiate a conversation.

"Carys" she called out

"Hmm" I replied not talking

"What did you read" she asked

"Books" I replied trying my possible best not to show how interested I was in the conversation

"Carys, why are you so mad at me" she asked looking at me incredulously

"What do you think?" I said to her

"What do you mean?" She asked looking at me confusingly

"Listen, you ignore me throughout today and get all cuddly with Gabriel and you expect me not to be mad at you" i said looking at her intently

"Carys, may I know where I am wrong in all what you just mentioned" she asked getting annoyed

"Nachi" I said

"I didn't talk to you?, if that's your problem then let me explain since that's what you're in desperate need of; Devin gave me a tour, my skirt was ripped, I was locked up in the locker room. What more do you want from me?" She said shouting now, thank goodness we were the only ones around that area

"Nachi" I said trying to reduce her anger

"See Carys I don't understand the angle you're coming from. You know today is my first day schooling here" she said gesturing around the whole place

"And you know its meant to be at least a memorable day but no,guess what; its part of the worst times of my 15 years on this planet earth" she continued talking

I wasn't paying attention to what she was saying, I just kept on watching how her lips moved.

So perfect

"Carys, are you listening at all?" She said snapping her fingers in my face

"Huhh" I asked getting confusing

"All I just finished saying fell on deaf ears, can you imagine?" She said

"Nachi"

"Its Mmasinachi for you" she said hissing and walked away but not before giving me the middle finger

I caught up with her pace and started walking beside her and then whispered into her ear

"Fuck you too baby" I said and walked into my hostel leaving her to process what I said

I turned back and faced her. She mouthed I hate you. I mouthed I love you too and walked into the hostel whistling happily.

I walked into my room and stayed on my bed sighing wistfully. Devin and Liam came in and happily disrupted my peace

"See the way Carys vexed when Gabriel and Mma were chatting happily you'll think he wanted to explode with anger" Devin said exaggerating obviously

"Seriously" Liam said with no interest at all

"At least make it sound real a little. This Liam you can kill vibes ehh" he said and sat on his bed while I just continued thinking about the only face that comes to my mind whenever I close my eyes.
