Double Life

Chapter 7

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I was dealing with things, writers block, and just got a new job, I will do my best to get the res of the chapter I owe you guys out within hopefully a week and half max.  Enjoy.

Lauren is currently doing her homework in her room when all of a sudden Destiny slams the door open making Lauren jump. "What the hell Lauren" Destiny says. "Jeez Destiny, you scared me" Lauren says then glares at Destiny, "You know there's this new thing it's called knocking, you should try it sometime." Destiny just looks at Lauren unimpressed and unfazed by her stare, "And there's this new thing it's called being honest with yourself, you should try that sometime." "What are you even talking about" Lauren asks rolling her eyes and picking up her homework that she knocked on the ground when Destiny scared her.

"I'm talking about Harley" Destiny says. "What about Harley" Lauren asks. "Stop playing stupid Lolo" Destiny says, "You know exactly what I'm talking about." "I have no idea what you're talking about" Lauren says. Destiny glares at Lauren. "You know your stupid glare doesn't work on me" Lauren says. "Choosing Harley when you and I both clearly know you like Tyler more" Destiny says. Lauren's eyes widen and her mouth opens and closes a few times before she composes herself and says, "Don't have a clue as to what you are referring to."

Destiny rolls her eyes and says, "Your reaction was enough." Destiny and Lauren have a stare down for several seconds before Destiny says, "When your ready to talk, you know where to find me." Destiny walks out of Lauren's room and Lauren just stares at her wall. She sighs and runs her hand through her hair. "I...I...I like...I can't" Lauren says, "I might be...but it can never happen." She walks out of her room and to the pool in the backyard. She stands in front of the pull and just looks down at her reflection.

"Destiny's right" Lauren says smiling looking at a picture of her and Tyler, "I can't keep lying to myself. I need to be honest with myself and everyone else." Lauren makes her way to Destiny's room. She sighs and looks down at the ground before she enters. "Ok fine..." Lauren says, "I...I like Tyler more than Harley." Destiny scrunches her eyebrows in confusion as Lauren walks over and sits down next to Destiny on her bed. "Then why did you choose Harley over Tyler" Destiny asks. "Because...because..." Lauren says. "You know you can tell me anything and I would never judge you Lauren" Destiny says and then after a pause, "You do know that right?"

"Yes of course I do, why do you think you were the first person I told I was bi" Lauren says, "Its just scary to even think it and even more terrifying to admit it out loud." "I can't imagine what you're going through and how scary this must be" Destiny says, "But no matter, I will always stand by your side. And screw everyone that doesn't accept you, you're awesome and that's their lose." Lauren smiles and hugs Destiny as a few tears escape her eyes. Destiny hugs her back and they hug for a few minutes before Destiny pulls away.

"Now" Destiny says, "Why don't you tell me why you chose Harley over Tyler." "Because I was scared" Lauren says. "Scared of what exactly" Destiny says. "Scared and still not completely comfortable to admit to everyone that I'm bi" Lauren says. "Your bi" Alaska exclaims, surprised by what she heard. Destiny and Lauren look at Alaska standing in Destiny's doorway in shock. Destiny and Lauren are wide eyed, and they look at each other in fear because they have no idea how Alaska will react or take the news of Lauren being bi. Lauren gulps and takes a shaky breath before whispering, "Yes..."

Alaska looks in between Lauren and Destiny. Lauren's leg begins to bounce out of nervousness as she waits for what Alaska has to say. Destiny places her hand on Lauren's knee and smiles at her gently. Alaska walks over to Lauren and hugs her, "You're my little sister and I love you no matter what." Lauren releases the breath she was holding and hugs Alaska back as tears run down her face. After a few seconds they pull away and Alaska wipes the tears away with her thumbs. "Besides love is love" Alaska says smiling, "Now what is the whole choosing Harley over Tyler thing about?"

"First of Tyler's a she" Lauren says, "We meet at school one day and got to talking. I really enjoyed her company and I like her. I found out that she also returns my feelings. Harley is the new student and he also likes me. He is the whole reason why a music career for me is now possible. I hung out with both of them to figure out who I like more and discovered that I like Tyler more. That scared me because these feelings are all new to me so I kinda told them that I like Harley more."

"But why did you choose Harley over Tyler if you like Tyler more" Destiny asks. "Well because Harley was the easier and safer choice. And because I'm still a little terrified to admit that I like a girl" Lauren says, "Long story short me and Harley are now dating. But after talking to you guys, mainly Destiny, I've come to realize that I need to be honest with myself. I can't help how I feel. I'm bisexual and I like a girl named Tyler. Most of all I need to be honest with both Tyler and Harley, before I hurt one of them even more by keeping this a secret."

"I'm so proud of you" Destiny says, "I'm happy that you finally admitted the truth and that you are now being honest with yourself." "Well damn..." Alaska says, "You have a very complicated love life." "Thank you guys for accepting and listening to me" Lauren says. "Just take baby steps Lauren" Destiny says, "Tell people when you feel comfortable enough to. But you really do need to come out to Harley soon. You also need to be honest with Harley and Tyler about your feelings." "I support you a hundred percent Lauren" Alaska says, "And I can't wait to meet this Tyler."

"Thank you" Lauren says again and pulls them into a group hug. "We are family" Alaska says, "And family sticks together no matter what." "Like I've said before" Destiny says, "I'll always be there for you." "And I'll be by your side whenever you finally decide to tell mom and dad" Alaska says. "Me too" Destiny says. "You two are the best sisters ever" Lauren says. "We better be" Destiny says.
