Double Life

Chapter 5

Lauren arrives at Tyler's house and parks. She spends five minutes giving herself a pep talk before knocking on the door. After five minutes of waiting, Lauren is about to leave when Tyler opens the door. Tyler looks like her old self again and her hair is dripping wet, she must have been taking a shower. "Sorry" Tyler says smiling, "I woke up from a nap and felt better so I figured I should take a shower. Then I kinda just threw on my clothes since I figured that was you at the door."

"Its fine, you didn't have to rush. I would have just come back tomorrow since today is Friday" Lauren says smiling, "I'm glad your feeling better." "Me too" Tyler says smiling, "You want to come in or do you have to be somewhere?" "I don't have anywhere to be" Lauren says. Tyler steps aside and Lauren enters her house. Tyler closes the door and asks, "You want anything to eat or drink?" "No thanks" Lauren says. "Um...I'm going to go dry my hair and change shirts since this one is soaked" Tyler says.

Tyler runs up the stairs and Lauren looks around. One picture in particular catches Lauren's eye, it's a picture of Tyler, Xavier, and what Lauren is assuming is Tyler's and Xavier's parents. The parents are smiling while it looks like Tyler and Xavier are forcing smiles. Lauren hears Tyler walking down the stairs and turns around. "Thanks for dropping off all the work I've missed" Tyler says. "No problem" Lauren says, "I didn't know you and Xavier were friends." "We're not" Tyler says.

Tyler sees the picture Lauren is holding, "My dad and Xavier's dad have been friends since forever. They meet their wives a year apart and got married a year apart. I was born six months before Xavier. Our parents would always set up play dates since they were friends. Me and Xavier would be friendly in front of them, but we never got along." Lauren nods her head and puts the picture back.

"So, I saw the videos" Tyler says. "You did" Lauren asks. "Yeah" Tyler says, "This girl named Destiny said that she was your sister and hacked into your phone to get my number-" "Dammit Destiny" Lauren says. "Anyways she sent me a link to the two videos" Tyler says. "I'm so sorry" Lauren says, "About Destiny and I kinda wanted to talk to you about that." "Its fine" Tyler says, "Looks like your dream will come true after all." "Yeah...it looks like it is" Lauren says.

"So, what did you want to talk about" Tyler asks. "I'm just going to get straight to the point" Lauren says, "Do you like me?" "Who wouldn't like you" Tyler says, "You're an amazing person. From what I've seen you have an awesome personality, your funny, you get to know someone before you judge them, and your nice. What's not to like?" "You really think that" Lauren asks smiling. "I do" Tyler says. "But that's not what I meant" Lauren says. Tyler looks confused and asks, "Then what did you mean?"

"Do you like me" Lauren asks, "As in like like me." "I'm still confused" Tyler says with the same confused expression on her face. "Do you like me" Lauren says, "You know...as more than a friend." Tyler opens and closes her mouth a few times before rubbing the back of her neck and asking, "Um...what if I said I did?" "To that I would say I also like you...as more than a friend" Lauren says. Tyler's head snaps to Lauren and she looks at Lauren in shock, "You...you like me?" "Yes, I do" Lauren says.

"Woah..." Tyler whispers, "Lauren actually likes me. Lauren frickin Carr likes me." Lauren smiles and giggles. "So, uh...what happens now" Tyler asks. "Nothing" Lauren says, and Tyler raises an eyebrow, "At least right now." "Um why" Tyler asks, "Don't people usually kiss or go on a date or become official or something like that when they profess their feelings?" "You remember those videos that Destiny sent you" Lauren asks. "How could I forget about those, specifically the one from today" Tyler asks confused not seeing where this is going, "You were amazing."

"That guy in the videos with me, his name is Harley Davidson" Lauren says, "His first day was Thursday." Tyler raises an eyebrow and says, "Ok..." "He also told me that he likes me" Lauren says. "And you like him also" Tyler says connecting the dots. "I do" Lauren says running her hand through her hair, "And the last thing I wanted to do was string you two along if you both had feelings for me." "Understandable" Tyler says, "So what happens now?"

"I need sometime to figure out who I want to be with" Lauren says, "So for now we are just strictly friends." "Ok" Tyler says nodding her head, "So what other exciting things have I missed in these last two days?" "Well as you know Xavier has a thing for me" Lauren says, "He got angry when Harley sang that song for me. Then he caused a scene in the cafeteria today which led to me and Harley singing that song. So basically, Xavier got schooled."

"Finally, someone put him in his place" Tyler says, "Man I just wish I was at Lockhell to have seen that." "Lockhell" Lauren asks. "Yeah. I hate that place, its like my own personal hell" Tyler says, "Hence Lockhell." Tyler phone dings. Tyler reads the message and replies. "Uh something came up and I have to go" Tyler says. "Ok" Lauren says, "It was nice seeing and talking to you." "It was" Tyler says, "I'll see you Monday." "See you Monday" Lauren says hugging Tyler. Tyler hugs her back and then walks Lauren to her car, "Bye."

Lauren smiles and drives home. Lauren walks into her house only to be ambushed by Alaska and Destiny. "So, did you talk to them" Destiny asks, "And do they like you?" "Who is this" Alaska asks, "And when were you going to tell me about this?" "Woah slow down" Lauren says, "One at a time." "His name is Harley and he just started at Lockhell-well I mean Lockwell Thursday" Lauren says, "And how did you even find out about those videos?" "These videos are all over the web, it's all anyone can talk about" Alaska says, "And Destiny kinda showed me too."

"And you" Lauren says looking at Destiny, "Why did you hack my phone and steal Tyler's number?" "Just to keep he-him updated" Destiny says, "And I needed to put Tyler through the ringer." "You are unbelievable" Lauren says, "And I did talk to both of them." "And..." Destiny says. "They both like me" Lauren says. "Woah woah woah...wait a second" Alaska says, "What do you mean both of them? I'm assuming one of them is Tyler." "Tyler and Harley" Lauren says.

"I told you Harley liked you" Destiny says, "So what are you going to do now?" "I already friend zoned Tyler and I'm going to do the same to Harley next time I talk to him" Lauren says, "Then I'm going to take some time to figure out who I have stronger feelings and then go from there." "Good luck with that" Alaska says, "Choose wisely. And I can wait to meet whoever you choose. Now if you'll excuse me, I have somethings to do." Alaska walks upstairs to her room.

Destiny follows Lauren into the kitchen. "Can I give you some advice" Destiny asks. "If you're going to tell me to choose one over the other for whatever reason or reasons" Lauren says, "No I don't." "I'm not" Destiny says, "All I was going to say don't choose one because it's the safer option. I know just recently you have been true to yourself about being bi and I'm so honored that I was the first person you told. I can't imagine how scary this is to."

"Look all I'm trying to say is that don't just choose Harley over Tyler because Harley's a guy and Tyler's a girl" Destiny says, "Choose whoever you feel a stronger connection to irregardless if it's a boy or a girl. No matter who you choose I will always support you and have your back." "Thank you Destiny" Lauren says smiling. Lauren pulls Destiny into a hug and she hugs her back. "Now I'm going to go finish all my homework so that I can enjoy my weekend" Destiny says smiling and walking to her room.

Lauren walks to her room and collapse on her bed. She takes a deep breath and runs her hand through her hair. She has a big decision that she needs to make and soon. Harley the overnight sensation heartthrob that can make her dreams come true. Tyler the school's biggest loser with a heart of gold. Harley or Tyler. Who should she choose? Tyler or Harley.
