Chapter Twenty-One

(Madison's POV)

My body tensed.... Had she just said she loved me? She looked up at me, her eyes sparkling. I couldn't just leave her hanging! But did I love her? Of course you do idiot. I mean, look at her. How could you not love such a beautiful girl? I opened my mouth to respond, but my phone interupted me. "I'm sorry babe." I quickly kissed her lips, then answered my ringing phone. "Hello?" "Hey bro..." It was JSTARR. He sounded upset. "What's wrong bro?" I asked while rubbing Kat's arm, her head now finding it's way into the crook of my neck. "It's Mikey..." He said. "What about him?" I asked, my pulse now quickening. "They moved him to the ICU. He's on an oxygen tank right now, and they're threatening to take him off of it if a guardian doesn't come in ASAP." JStarr said. "But... Can't you tell them to keep him on it?" I asked, getting frustrated. "No, I'm not listed as a legal guardian Mad." He said. I groaned, and tears filled my eyes. "So, what now?" "We have to get Mr. or Mrs. Fusco down here." JStarr said. "But then we'll have to tell them-" "I know, but it's that, or let Mikey die." He said, cutting me off. I sighed, and gnawed on my bottom lip, ultimately making my decision. "Okay. I'll call up Mrs. Fusco. It's time we tell them all the truth...."

(Vinny's POV)

I dialed Kat's number into my phone, I haven't seen her in forever. One ring... Two rings... Three rings... then it went to her answering machine. My eyes filled with tears at the sound of her voice, hearing it made me realize how much I missed her. I decided to call Madison, since she was supposed to be with him. After several tries, there was still no answer. My stomach turned, immediately assuming the worse. I just can't help but think something is wrong...
