Violet's POV
"Beep! Beep!" The sound of my alarm clock seemed to have gotten me out of the deep slumber I was trapped in, it was there probably because of the incident that happened between me and Reed. I got up from my bed and decided to fix it since the housekeeper would not be here until 8 o clock and disheveled beds really give a bad look when it comes to personalities. I picked out my scrubs and decided to take a warm shower that would calm my nerves in these torrid surroundings. After tying my hair in a bun and putting on my lab-coat, stethoscope and uggs, I headed out to the kitchen to make my coffee. Reed would usually be reading the newspaper by now but there was no sign of him anywhere, nor did I care. I poured sweltering water into the french press cup and my favorite french vanilla beans. As soon as I was about to sit on the couch and watch tv, I noticed a note on the fridge.
Violet, I'll be out the whole day today with Melanie, call me if you face any difficulty in the apartment.
-Reed.
Good lord, why on Earth did he leave so early, it was only 6 o clock in the morning, but I guess that love has no boundaries for time or comfort. After finishing my cup, I headed out for the hospital and finally today, I was going to take some time out for myself. The traffic jam was horrible, there was literally nobody on the road who was willing to move and all of us were in a hurry. I decided to turn on the radio and by luck my favorite song was on, Earned It by The Weeknd. It was a famous sultry song that had every businessman vibe to it, does Reed listen to this song? I cringed at the thought, even though Melanie could easily qualify as Anna and Reed as the Christian Grey but his looks multiplied by hundred times. By now, the traffic had eased a little and I could swiftly drive to the hospital. I noticed Sarah in the parking lot, she looked confused and in a hurry, I had to figure out what was causing her this stress. I parked right next to her and a smile spread on her face, I waved my hand in response. "Violet, I am so happy to see you, work was going to be so boring without you." I smiled, "I had a gut feeling you'd say that but a part of me felt that you're more happy when you're around your boyfriend." An uneasiness passed on her face and she remained like that until I snapped in front of her fingers, "Yeah definitely, let's go." We both walked in together while the cold air kept changing its direction around us. A distressed aura settled between us because Sarah was not talking, but rather she was uncomfortable.
Sarah's POV (Flashback):
I was sipping from my coffee cup as I looked down from my apartment window, watching the cars go back and forth, trapped in an interminable cycle of what seems like life. I looked at my wristwatch, it showed the time as 9:30 pm, I wonder why Jason was late today, he was always early. The dinner would probably get cold but I would never let even a morsel of food pass down my throat, unless it was Jason who ate with me. My stomach kept rumbling but I remained adamant on the fact that I would only eat with him; thus, I kept looking at the snow-covered roads and the serenity of the whole situation. From the distance, I heard jazz music playing and the giggles of a couple dancing in their room, I smiled. Could me and Jason be like that? To be honest, me and him had lost that spark that we had 8 months ago, when we met on a blind-date. We couldn't seem to get enough of each other, there were dates on every weekend after work, ice-cream days on Tuesday but it felt like we both got tired of the idea that we would be together forever. What shook me to the core was the fact that one day, Jason came home drunk and started throwing beer bottles everywhere and physically abused me by aiming one at me which made my foot bleed. But I was unwilling to let him go, just for the thought that one day, he would propose me and a happy married life awaited us, of course, there would be problems but we could easily get through them. Right? I was unwilling to let him go as I needed to fit in with everybody, including Violet who too had a husband, albeit the fact that it was a contract. He was handsome, eligible, rich and yet unfaithful. But Violet was strong and she was a fighter, but I was weak. Yet, I could not let my entire figure be spoiled in front of the person who I adored so much. I heard the doorbell ring and I practically jumped to open it, but my happiness turned to horror when I saw another girl, linking her arm with Jason and they both ignored me. "J-jason?" He scowled, "Get lost you ugly bitch." I could not comprehend what was happening before me, "But-but Jason, I waited for you, I-I don't understand." The girl imitated puking, "Is this your girlfriend? Jason baby, I thought that you would have a better choice than her." Tears pricked the corners of my eyes but I ignored the hot moisture reaching my eyes. "What are you gawking at? Go sleep in the lounge." Anger and denial were mixed in my veins, "But we share the bills, you can't kick me out of my house!" The girl shoved me away. "You'll get your part of the payment tomorrow, me and Christina will share this apartment." My whole body was shaking from what I had just heard.
"How-how long has this been going on?" Jason scratched his chin, which showed that he was clearly not embarrassed by what he had done. "Lets say about 6 months, since you're a pathetic excuse to being a woman, look at this beauty." He pointed his finger at Christina who flipped her hair. "I can't believe you did this to me Jason, what about the dates and pictures?" His eyes showed that he was clearly annoyed by me. "Will you just get lost now? Stop bothering us." I couldn't feel anything around me, everything was spinning and there was no emotion inside of me. But my eyes gave up as my fatigued body gave away.
