Anton

My alarm clock sounded through my room, instantly waking me up. I sat up in my bed and stretched my stiff body, I peeked through the curtains of my window to see the sun barely touching the sky. I got up from my bed and got myself dressed in one of my more basic clothing choices, a simple oversized white shirt with designer ripped blue jeans and my glasses. I did my morning routine as usual before heading downstairs where my mom and dad were sitting at the table, talking about whatever parents talk about.

"Hey, Anton," Dad called for me.

"Yes?" I responded. He pulled out a piece of paper with my grades out.

"Can you believe this?" He asked. I noticed the report card had all A+'s across each subject.

"I really can't believe it! You're doing great, Anton!" He had pure joy in his voice, it honestly made me happy and proud.

"I know you're only a sophomore but you could already be a college graduate with these grades!"

"I'm glad I could make you happy, Dad." I said sincerely.

"We're very proud of you, Anton, Arkadi would be so happy for you right now!" Mom commented.

"Anyways, let's get going, we don't want you to be late." She said as she grabbed her keys.

As we drove to school, I wrote in my guide book. My guide book is basically what's been keeping me sane throughout the entirety of middle and high school, it's full of rules that I wrote myself to follow for any occasion and scenario. Call it a diary if you like, but it's my form of life support, a friend if you may. It's mostly compensation for not having any friends, like a dog or a computer except it's none of that, it's a book. I bring it with me everywhere I go and never let it leave my backpack. Mom dropped me off and wished me a good day, everyone there gave me a weird look. Nobody likes me, think of it as being a popular girl, except everyone openly doesn't like you and you're not popular. Now, I'm not very egotistical but I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't like me because I'm better than them, I'm smarter, I'm wealthier, and I don't consider myself to be ugly either. I walked into the building and went straight to my locker to put away my stuff for other classes. I made my way to my first class, calculus, I'm not bad at, really, any subject, I succeed in everything except gym, that is my weakness. We had a pop quiz which I finished first per usual, nobody likes the fact I always finish before them, and I always get told thank you by every teacher 'cause I'm a favorite. I don't have an ego, it's just facts and statistically speaking. Calculus finished up and as I walked to my locker, a buff guy came and corners me to a wall, nothing new.

"Don't you ever get tired of this?" I asked. Rule #47. Never let yourself get pushed around.

"Don't you ever get tired of being so damn pathetic?" He asked.

"No, I frankly enjoy it." I answered him. I received a punch to my face, knocking my glasses off. My nose felt warm as I felt blood run down my lip.

"Wow. . . That felt great!" I smiled. He was about to punch me before someone grabbed his wrist forcefully and held it back.

"You can go now, I don't want to see you anywhere near him." A guy in sunglasses and a black hoodie said in his thick and raspy accent. The bully then tried to punch him but the guy held his fist again.

"You. Can. Go. Now." He said before pushing him away from me. The bully ran off and the guy approached me.

"What? You're gonna push me around now?" I asked.
