My mother and I are finally finished arranging the apartment, we put all the clothes in cupboard, arrange the bedroom, and we got some furniture from the store room that Dean let me use. The apartment was a studio apartment, not big but very comfy. And I could finally convince my mother to stay the night with me and get back home tomorrow morning, since it was Sunday.
"You can always keep the car if you want it. It's under your name, anyway." my mother offered.
"No, Ma. I won't need it. It's always crowded in the city anyway, traffic is terrible too. You might need it more to commute. That way you can come and visit me anytime." I told her while handing her a cup of tea.
"I will come and visit you often. Don't worry about it, honey."
"Shall we dine out today? I don't feel like cooking today, I'm tired after all that unpacking we did today." Unpacking had really drained out my last energy.
"What about we go down to Dean's bar and have something there and come back. I'm feeling exhausted too, I'm thinking to go to bed early tonight."
So that's what we did, we went to Dean's bar downstairs and ordered dinner. Dean was a middle age man with shoulder length hair tied in a pony tail and tattoo covering both of his hands, he might be middle age but his body was built and he looked like he could take anyone down who dared to mess with him. When he saw us walking through the door, he looked happy to see us and welcomed us with his friendly smile.
" I hope you enjoy the new apartment ", Dean said to me while handing us the menu.
"It's perfect, we just finished unpacking and thought we would come for dinner. I see you have a full house today." I said, noting that the bar was packed.
"Well, it's the weekend, it's normally like this over the weekend. Oh yeah, if you have any problem while living here, make sure to let me know. I promise Andrew that you will be safe here."
"Definitely. Thanks, Dean."
"Alright then. I gotta get back to the kitchen, busy night. The waiter will take your order and deliver your food. Enjoy your dinner, ladies. " He told us before heading back to the kitchen, leaving us to decide on what to have.
"So, who is Andrew?" My mother asked me while nudged me on my side.
"Just a friend I met at the office who tried to help me with finding a good and safe apartment near my work place."
"Just a friend?"
"Yes, Ma. Just a friend."
"If you say so. Just be careful with the new people you just met, don't trust them so easily. Okay? " I nodded at my mom.
When we were finally done with and paid for the dinner, we said our goodbye and thanked Dean before headed back to the apartment. I let my mother sleep in the bedroom while I took refugee on the living room couch, I was gonna fall asleep when I heard my phone beeped. I reached for it and smiled when I read the text from Andrew.
I hope you're enjoying the new apartment.
Just one sentence and my heart fluttered, I sat up on the couch and started to text back.
I do. I just got done with the unpacking and Dean, being an angel, let me use some stuff from the store room.
His reply was quick.
Hmmm.... I wish I was your angel. So are we still set for the lunch that you promised me?
How could I forget, I promised him lunch as my thank you for helping me finding an apartment .
