We had been driving to the place where Naya said Kayne would be for almost an hour. We had left the city limit thirty minutes ago. All around us now was thick forest, everywhere I looked, there were only trees. The only path that wasn't covered with grass was the cobblestone path on which the car was running on.
After a long way driving among the trees, we reached the end of the path and Naya stopped the car on the side of a log cabin.
Deena who was still holding a gun, pointed it at me and signaled me to get off the car."Is this where you have been hiding Kayne?" Deena asked Naya while eyeing the cabin.
Naya nodded and beckoned us to follow her. She retrieved a key from her purse and unlocked the door.
Naya then turned around to face Deena before she opened the door.
" If you do anything stupid, trust me, you'll regret it. I have installed several CCTV cameras here that were being monitored by my people remotely. They won't wait for instruction if you shoot the camera or me." Naya warned Deena, to which Deena just stared at her with obvious hatred in her eyes.
When Naya opened the door to let us in, Deena pushed me in with the barrel of the gun. The cabin looked oddly empty, there was no furniture other than a couch and coffee table. On one corner of what was supposed to be a living room, I could see medical supplies, like medicine, heart rate monitor, oxygen tanks, etc.
"Where's Kayne?" Deena asked when Naya stopped in the middle of the room.
"He's here, don't you worry."
"I wanna see him. That's our deal."
"You'll drop the gun first. I'm not risking you carrying a gun and shoot me or Kayne."
For a moment, Deena seemed to contemplate on Naya's request for her to drop the gun.
"I'm not an idiot, Naya. You have your men monitored us, I won't leave behind my security." She lifted her gun so Naya could see it and continued, " This is my security. Just like you don't trust me, I don't trust you either. Now, take me to Kayne."
Naya eyed Deena for a second before leading us further into the log cabin. We stopped in front of the door that was at the back of this log cabin. When the door was opened, I could see a man lying on the bed. I couldn't see his face since he was lying on the bed with his back facing us.
"Kayne...... We've got guests." Naya announced.
The man then stirred in his bed and turned to face us. I could hear Deena gasped. She was frozen to her spot like she just saw a ghost.
"Impossible...." Deena uttered. I turned to take a look at her and she looked as white as a ghost.
The man then got up to a sitting position. He struggled initially and Naya came to his side to help him. When he was comfortable in his sitting position, his eyes looked at us one by one.
"Is that girl Anna?" That was his first sentence as soon as his eyes landed on me.
"No, Kayne. That's Cassandra. Juliette's daughter. Do you remember Juliette?" Naya asked him patiently.
"Then where's Anna? I want to see my Anna?" The man looked at Naya and asked her.
For a moment since we got to this room, Naya took her eyes off of Kayne and looked at Deena who was still frozen in place.
"Why don't you answer that question, Deena? He is asking about Anna." Naya asked Deena.
"You said that he remembered everything. Then why is he asking about Anna?"
