BENEATH ALL THE LIES

The City

After waiting for a few weeks, I finally got the answer from the fashion company I applied for job to, they hired me as a PA for their CEO. On the first day, I was taken around the company to get used to the place and I was introduced to all the staff members. The CEO was a woman named Deena Deevan. She was older than my mother but her appearance and dressing preference made her look younger. She had a long hair that was always tied up in a bun and she wore high heels with red soles. She was called as Mrs.Deevan by her employees. And I was her PA, apparently she was hard to satisfy according to her previous PA. I learned that she came to the office 4 days a week and she always reached by 10 A.M, dropped by a driver in a black Marcedes. As her PA, my job was to make sure she had her morning coffee ready on her desk when she entered and all the documents needed her attention perched on the left side of her desk. After she finished her coffee, I was to reiterate her schedule for the day.

Today, as usual I was reiterating Mrs. Deevan's schedule before she interrupted.

"Rearrange my morning schedule, as I'm having an appointment with a detective from the local precinct at 11.00", she told me while sipping her coffee.

"Alright, Mrs. Deevan, I will schedule the meeting for after lunch break, if that's okay with you".

"Perfect. And you better get back to your desk in case my 11 A.M appointment has arrived and immediately see him to my office."

I excused myself to get back to my desk and tried to rearrange her schedule, that's when a tall and handsome man came to my desk. He was 6 feet tall with lean body and clean shaved face. His hair was a brown mess on his head. He wore white shirt with no tie but he had black blazer on with the sleeves folded roughly till the elbow. He came to my desk, and smiled a very charming smile.

"Hi. I'm detective Andrew Stevens , I have an appointment with Mrs. Deena Deevan this morning."

"Hi, Mrs. Deevan informed me about you. She's actually waiting for you. Let me take you there." Good thing I could utter those words without stuttering in my bewitched state of mind.

He followed behind me and suddenly I felt nervous. This man was really handsome and he had this aura of confidence emitting off of him. And he was so tall, standing next to him I looked like a midget. I knocked on Mrs. Deevan's door and letting her know that her appointment was here.

"Mrs. Deevan, detective Andrew Stevens is here for your 11.00 appointment", I announced as I entered her office.

"I thought I would be seeing detective Pembrooke, as usual ", she told him.

"Good morning Mrs. Deena Deevan, I'm Andrew Stevens and I have been assigned to your case recently. I have several things to discuss with you regarding your case", detective Andrew Stevens informed her.

"Cassandra, you can leave us now, " with that, I was being dismissed.

I went back to my desk and tried to focus on my job to rearrange Mrs. Deevan's schedule and I was just about to dial her client's number to inform about the change in schedule when Luna, the office gossiper, shimmied to my desk and stopped me from dialing.

"Hi Cassey, who is that hottie in Mrs. Deevan's office?"

"Oh, that's detective Andrew Stevens. Why did you ask?"

"Finally, the precinct assigned some hot dude to her case. It's about time they assigned some fresh guy handling her case instead of that old man who normally visited her. At least this time my eyes can feast on something delicious", she said while her eyes were fixed on Mrs. Deevan's office door as if she could look through it and saw the handsome man behind it.
