Time had gone by so quick. It felt like it was just yesterday that I finally moved to the city and now it's already another weekend. Work helped me focus and forget about everything else around me. I had been working for Deena for a month now and I was glad he moved me to the design team. I learnt a lot from Louis and the others in the team. There was so much more to designing than just drawing. Louis taught me how to create a prototype or 3D design on the company's computer. It was like magic working in this team. How I could transform the design I imagined in my head into a 3D prototype and had glimpse of what my design was gonna be had it been sent for tailoring. Louis was really patient while teaching me considering I was new to all those related to design and fashion. And Deena was very supportive, she had accepted two of my designs to be included in the launching.
I just got out of the shower when my phone rang. When I went to retrieve it, I saw Andrew's name flashed on my screen.
"Hey, I thought we agreed on meeting up at my place at 12.00 to go to my mother's. I still have another hour, you know." I immediately told him. I could hear him laughing on the other side of the line.
"Calm down. I called to tell you to take your time since I would be running a little late. I have to go and and finish some work. But I'll pick you up before two o'clock. Good enough?" He confirmed with me.
"Andrew, take your time. You can just come pick me up anytime. Finish your work first."
"Alright then. See you soon, Cassey."
After I hung up, I immediately went to the bedroom and got dressed. I chose a sundress with a V cut on the front and red flower patterns all over its white background which I bought with my very first salary and finally got a chance to wear it. I applied light make up on my face since I had never been one to apply heavy make up on my face and tied my hair up with some strands of lose hair framing my oval face, my favourite hairstyle. When I was done, I took my laptop and turned it on. The IT team had already installed the necessary software on it, enabling me to work while I was home. I took a seat on the couch and started working on the laptop and immediately got my hands on some design I had already doodled previously. I thought I would spend some time working while waiting for Andrew.
I was so immersed in what I was doing that I didn't realized it was half past one already when I heard a knock on my door. I put down my laptop and went to open the door. When I found Andrew standing right outside my door.
"First lesson about safety, check the peephole before opening your door. I could have been a robber standing outside your door." He told me as soon as I opened the door.
"Are you doing some public announcement right now, on how to be safe living in the city?" I actually should have peeked through the hole before opening door.
"No, just don't want anything bad to happen to you. That's all."
"Thanks, and I'll keep that in mind. Shall we head out now?"
"Sure. Let's go"
I took my clutch from the couch and locked the door before heading out with Andrew following behind me. As usual he opened the door for me before getting to the driver's side of the car. And soon enough, we were already on the road. Andrew put on some music and hummed along. Soon enough the car was filled with the melodious sound of country music.
"You know, growing up, my mother introduced me to lots of country songs. She used to put some old country music and dance with me." I told him while I was remembering old memories.
He looked at me smiling.
"So tell me, have you been living in the suburb, all your life?" He asked me.
