It had been almost two weeks since I stayed at Deena's. Andrew dropped me off before he left me and since then, I hadn't run into him again. He texted and called me every single day, checking on how I was doing but he always ended the conversation with an apology for not being able to come and meet me. He was still knee deep in his work regarding the Thatcher case, my case. He may had found me but he yet had to make Zasha admitted her crime. And not just that, Andrew still had to figure out what happened to Kayne.
Since I got to Deena's house, I was given my old room, my baby room. Somehow, within a day, she transformed the room into a really cozy bedroom. She removed the the baby stuff from that room and replaced it with a queen size bed, a really huge wooden closet filled with various clothes of my size and dressing table with a wooden roses framed mirror . Right across my room was Deena's room. She had taken me there and told me to take any dress that I wanted while I still hadn't been able to go back to my place and retrieve mine.
While I was hidden from the press in this huge mansion, my mind wandered about Zasha. Whether she was doing fine and if she would finally plead guilty so she won't have to die in jail. I hadn't heard about her from Andrew and I hadn't asked either. I was on my mission to put her in my past and move on with my life. Then my mind also wandered to Jonah. Since the last time I spoke to him and gave him back his keys, I hadn't talked much to him as well. He was so immersed in his art exhibition that would take place in a few days. I didn't know if I could still go or not. I had promised him that I would come but the mansion had been guarded heavily for safety reason. Andrew already warned me not to go out for a while, at least until the press had given up.
I just finished my design for work and I thought I would take a tour of the house. The two weeks I had been here, Deena had shown me around the house and a couple of old pictures of me. I never saw the baby picture of me. Zasha never had any. The only pictures I had were from the age of three and above. I used to ask Zasha as to why I never had baby picture of me taken and she always said that was because she didn't have any money then to spend on camera or phone. Well. Now I knew why.
I went downstairs and walked towards the living room. It was a spacious living room, with some pictures of Deena, Kayne and me hanging on the wall. Next to the living room, I saw there was a room, Deena told me that this room used to be Kayne's office. I checked the handle and found that the door wasn't locked. I opened it and got inside the room. On first sight, this home office looked like the rich people' home office from those movies I've watched, with mahogany desk at the end of the room with huge wooden cupboards on its sides to display all the books. The entire room was lit up by a huge chandelier at the center of the ceiling. I started to move towards the desk. Behind it was a window, facing the back garden. Everything in that room was so tidy that the messy desk immediately took my attention.
I pulled out the chair and took a seat. I tried to sort out the desk by organizing it's contents. There were so many letters and documents on that desk. I put aside all the letters that scattered around the desk in a neat and tidy pile and put them on one side of the desk. I did the same for the other folders and documents until the desk was completely cleared up. I noticed a framed picture sitting on that desk. It was a picture of our family. There was Deena, Kayne and baby me. Deena and Kayne were so happy in this picture with Kayne was holding the baby. The baby seemed to be so content to be in her father arms. This picture might had been taken long before we all got separated in tragic way because the baby in this picture still looked like a newborn . I wished that I would be given a chance to see this man again. Just like how I got the chance to meet Deena again after so long.
I lifted the framed picture to get a closer look on the baby in the picture. I wanted to see the version of me I had never seen before more clearly. Then I realized that the picture was slightly crooked. I opened the back of it to adjust the position of the photo in it. That was when something fell out from behind it. There were two pictures inside the framed, one that was facing the transparent glass so it was on display while the other was hidden so that without opening it, no one would find out that there were two pictures in it.
