And he wasn't lying either. I had woken up to two text messages from Harry. One from this morning, wishing me a good day and another asking me if I had woken up already wish was sent to me five minutes ago.
"I am now." I respond in text as I then get up from my bed and walk into the bathroom with my phone in my hand. My phone dings again as I see it's Harry.
"Lunch with mum and I?" He asks. I take a minute to respond as I go downstairs to the kitchen to see my dad sitting at the table with a coffee in his hand and his iPhone in the other. Probably checking the news, that's what he mainly does on his phone.
"Dad?" I say as I get his attention and he looks up at me as I make my way over to the refrigerator.
"Yeah?" He responds. "My friend Harry, you know? The one I went to the mall with a few days ago?"
"Yeah, I remember. What about him?" He asks, sitting his coffee down and looking over at me.
"He was wanting me to go out to lunch with his mom and him. Is that okay?" I ask as I take a bagel from the counter and put it in the toaster.
"Well, that's okay with me. Bring him back by here, after." He says calmly as I nod. A small smile creeping up. It's not that my dad is majorly strict but he can be at times that's why I sometimes sneak out when I have to.
..
"Does this look bad?" I ask Ana as I look into the mirror at my outfit. I tried to not go too casual with my oversized white sweater and black jeans with some brown ankle boots. I threw in a necklace too but it's too cold to not wear a sweater today.
"I'll pick you up at 12." Harry's texts reads as I check the time, I see it's 11:30 already. Thankfully I already have my makeup on and I'm ready.
Arriving at a small diner, Harry comes around to the passenger side of his car and opens his door for me. Smiling, I thank him as he smiles back and closes my door.
"My mums already inside, she's got a seat for us." He says as I nod and he leads the way to where she's seated.
"Hello, loves! Good to see you again, Lia." She smiles kindly at me as we approach the booth she's sitting in. Her dark brown hair stands out on the peachy sweater she's wearing. Not quite the winter color but I like that about Anne, she's all about colors, I can tell.
I sit in by the window as Harry sits on the outside. "It's good to see you too." I say with a smile as we get settled.
"I haven't ordered my drink or anything yet. I was waiting for you two," She explains.
"Oh, sorry for keep you waiting." I say.
"No worries, dear. I just got here." She says, she's so nice. A lot nicer than my step-mom. She reminds me of my own mother.. I nod and smile as our waiter comes to the table and asks what we want to drink.
Harry orders a pepsi as Anne orders black coffee and I order a water. As we look over the menu's Anne asks me "Have you ever been here before, dear?" Shaking my head I say, "No, I actually haven't ever heard from it."
She nods her head and slightly smiles as she doesn't want to look or sound rude.
The waiter brings our drinks out as Harry orders a burger, Anne orders a grilled cheese sandwich and I order a club sandwich.
"So, tell me about yourself, dear. What's your family like?" She questions me as she sips some of her coffee.
"Well, my dad is a dentist, his office is downtown. My step-mom she works in hospice." I explain.
"And my sister Ana is in her first year of college."
"Ah, well you all sound like a lovely family. You two will be in your first year of college next year." She smiles as I nod and look to Harry to see him nodding also.
The waiter brings out our food as we all begin eating.
Harry pays for my food as Anne pays for her own.
"I could've gotten it, but thank you." I quietly say to Harry as he looks at me with a smile on his face. "My pleasure," And places his hand on mine beneath the table.
After talking some more with Anne and learning a bit about her and laughing along with the two, Harry then says. "I've got to take her home soon, mum." As he takes a sip of his drink and stands from the booth.
"You're right. It's getting late and I have a few errands to run." She says as she and I both climb out of the booth and stand.
We both follow Harry out of the front door and into the parking lot as Anne stops and says. "It was very lovely to meet you again, Lia," She slightly giggles. "Come around more often. You're nice company and I'm sure you are when you speak up some more," She smiles kindly as I lightly giggle at her.
"I would love to. You're nice company also and I'd love to hear more about your teaching days," I say, referring to when she was once a teacher when she was younger, she began telling me a few stories here and there about them but never the full thing, they were quite funny though.
"See you at the house, mum." Harry says, kissing his mother on the cheek and taking my hand in his as we walk towards the corner of the parking lot to Harry's car where he opens my door for me once again.
