"Happy Valentine's Day!!!" Nia roughly wrapped her arm around my neck.
"Damn girl, why you gotta be so aggressive,"
"Just the way I show my love,"
"Right,"
When we arrived at my locker, I noticed a rose taped to the middle of it.
"Awwww look how cute," Nia cooed.
I admired the rose as I pulled it off of my locker.
The school had this thing where you could pay one dollar for a rose and have it sent to anyone of your choice on Valentine's Day.
I really wasn't expecting DeLane to do it though.
"Why you making that face tho?" She tilts her head.
"I don't know, I just wasn't expecting this,"
"Don't y'all like him?"
I shrug not knowing how to tell her that I'm in a relationship.
"I think it's sweet. I think you're just nervous cause this is the first time you've been serious with a guy,"
"We're not even dating,"
"I didn't say that, I said y'all were seriously involved with each other,"
"Whatever," I shrugged.
"I gotta get to class. Cheer up girl," she ruffles my curls and runs off knowing I was probably about to smack her for that.

"I'm glad you liked it," DeLane said referring to the rose. "But I want you to come out with me tonight because I have a surprise for you," he interlaced our fingers.
Thoughts were swarming through my head as we walked around outside during lunch.
"I don't know if my parents will let me,"
"It's a Friday. You don't have a game and you don't have to work,"
"True,"
"So what do you say," he swung our arms.
"I guess,"
"You guess?" He said as if he was offended.
I decided to ignore it, not wanting to start anything.
